Since June 2022, users have access to the latest version of the Zeiss universal measurement software that focuses on standard geometric elements. Zeiss Calypso 2022 particularly increases performance in data acquisition as well as in the evaluation of results. " Customers don't really want to write measurement programs, they want to measure parts ," says Günter Haas, software product manager Zeiss Calypso. Zeiss has understood this for a long time, and sees coordinate measuring machines as dipositives integrated into the manufacturing process. That's why Zeiss is constantly improving the performance of its solutions so that they don't become the bottleneck in quality control despite increasing production cycles.
If faulty geometric elements are attached to a PMI in the CAD model, the new version automatically creates the characteristic without the measuring element, thus generating a complete and uninterrupted control plane. The user can then analyze the possible indications in the work log. For PMI specifications that previously required manual entry, it is now eliminated. With the new version, the PMI generation runs automatically.
For faster measurement: new optical features
And because 3D measurement technology has long been supplemented by optical measurement methods to obtain important information for product and process improvement, Zeiss Calypso 2022 also offers many improvements and new developments in terms of optics. For example, this latest version of the software now supports the new Zeiss O-Detect optical machine. This means that Zeiss O-Detect users have access to all reporting assessments and Calypso functions such as PCM, curve or generation of control planes with PMI. According to Günter Haas, the optical distortion correction function to increase the accuracy of optical systems should also excite users as it increases optical distortion correction. A significant increase in accuracy is especially noticeable in peripheral areas. The use of small magnifications increases the field of view. More geometric elements can be captured in the image at the same time.
Depending on the measurement task and the tolerance required, this reduces the necessary number of measurement images while saving measurement time. Depending on the measurement and tolerance required, users can reduce their measurement times by up to 50%, according to Günter Haas.
Strength: Creation of measurement programs from CAD data
Measurement programs can be created automatically using product information (PMI) embedded in CAD data. Zeiss Calypso 2022 offers users many new features and enhancements for the automated creation of finished measurement programs. With the new version, separate or combined tolerance zones are recognized and the corresponding evaluation is automatically created.
