The Prosonic Flow W 400 therefore combines proven ultrasonic measurement technology with the unique advantages of Endress+Hauser's Proline series of devices, meeting the many requirements of today's plant operators: long-term cost-effectiveness, comprehensive process monitoring and maximum freedom when planning measurement points.
The non-intrusive Clamp-On measurement method, in which the ultrasonic transducers is mounted directly on the pipe, enables safe measurement even of corrosive, abrasive and toxic fluids, whatever their conductivity or pressure.
This makes the Prosonic Flow W 400 ideal for monitoring and controlling a wide range of processes. As there's no need to open the pipe, Clamp-On flow sensors can be installed at any time, for example on very large pressure pipes with diameters of up to 4 meters, such as those found in the energy and power plant sectors.
Other applications requiring flexible adaptations include utilities, such as water supply.
Examples such as these illustrate the versatility of the Prosonic Flow W 400's application possibilities: quantity and volume measurement, totalization and balancing, process monitoring, verification of previously installed flowmeters and pipeline leak detection. The robust stainless steel ultrasonic transducers with IP68 (type 6P) protection ensure long-term, low-maintenance operation. They can therefore be used even under difficult process and environmental conditions. They can be used at process temperatures ranging from -40 to +130°C (-40 to +266°F). Prosonic Flow W 400 is ideally suited to applications in non-Ex areas.
Web server - easy to use and install on site
The Proline 400 transmitter includes a web server as standard. With a standard Ethernet cable and a laptop - or wirelessly via WLAN - users have direct access to all diagnostic, configuration and device data without additional software or hardware. This enables targeted parameterization of a measuring point, and saves time during commissioning, maintenance and servicing. During installation, the transmitter/operator display also indicates the current measurement quality (good - acceptable - poor), so that the sensor position can be adjusted if necessary.
Flow DC function for maximum performance even under disturbed flow conditions
Industrial piping systems generally feature a variety of pipe fittings and bends which disrupt the flow profile and, with it, the accuracy of an ultrasonic measurement. The Prosonic Flow W 400 is optionally available with the unique Flow DC function, with which the effects of flow disturbance on the measurement signal can be detected and computationally compensated. This makes it possible to maintain the specified measurement accuracy even with considerably reduced straight lengths, e.g. from 15 DN to 2 DN. This means maximum flexibility for planners and users who wish to equip or retrofit systems with Clamp-On flowmeters.
Heartbeat Technology - for maximum operational safety
Heartbeat Technology is another highlight. This test function, integrated into all Endress+Hauser Proline measuring devices, enables permanent self-diagnosis with the widest diagnostic coverage (>95%), as well as traceable verification of the device during operation. Heartbeat Technology also includes a "Heartbeat Sensor Integrity" test function to detect changes to the measurement electronics and/or sensor caused by extreme environmental or process conditions. Heartbeat Technology reduces system risks and increases reliability and availability.
Adapts to all types of pipe
The Prosonic Flow W 400 can be mounted on a wide variety of pipe types and materials: metal pipes (such as steel or cast iron), plastic pipes, glass-fiber-reinforced plastic (GRP) pipes, or coated or uncoated composite pipes. A maintenance-free coupling shoe ensures optimum sound transmission between the transducer surface and the pipe. The resulting high and constant signal strength guarantees stable measurement results and high measurement performance for many years. Depending on line size, fluid and pipe material, transducers are supplied with different ultrasonic frequencies (0.3 - 0.5 - 1- 2 - 5 MHz) so that users can also count on maximum signal quality, and hence accuracy and repeatability.
