Artec 3D, world-renowned developer and manufacturer of professional 3D hardware and software, today announced the release of the Artec Metrology Kit, an optical 3D coordinate measurement system for high-precision inspection. It enables deformation analysis and greater accuracy when measuring objects and areas of any size.
Available in two versions, Professional and Entry-Level, Artec's Metrology Kit is an easy-to-use and extremely versatile photogrammetry solution that delivers metrology-grade precision and high-level accuracy for inspection and reverse engineering.
The Artec Metrology Kit can operate as a stand-alone optical measurement solution or as a referencing tool for even better 3D scanning performance over distance. Fully portable, the kit performs high-precision measurements in less than 15 minutes. It is capable of capturing moving objects, making it ideal for both on-site and off-site projects.
The Metrology Kit has DaaKS and VDI certifications and offers a maximum point-based accuracy (RMS) of 0.002 mm + 0.005 mm/m and a length measurement accuracy of up to 0.015 mm + 0.015 mm/m.
The Metrology Kit includes a camera with a maximum resolution of 30.3 megapixels and a 28 mm wide-angle lens, measurement targets, adapters, scale bars and the Metrology Kit plug-in, which allows the photogrammetry process to run entirely within Artec Studio. The kit is also compatible with well-known software such as Geomagic Control X, PolyWorks and many others.
" Artec 3D is proud to provide state-of-the-art metrology solutions and to continue to invest significant resources in the development of new products. its products and its range of products to offer better and better solutions for its customerscomments Artyom Yukhin, President and CEO of Artec 3D. We are convinced that the Metrology Kit is an extremely effective solution for inspection projects, where high accuracy and minimal accumulated error are essential. We look forward to seeing the reaction of our users. "
The Artec 3D Metrology Kit is already in use in a number of sectors, including the automotive industry.
Car manufacturing
For quality control in automotive manufacturing processes, the Metrology Kit analyzed the position of welding studs on every fourth chassis in a large automotive production line in Germany. The results were then used to program a welding robot. In addition, as part of tests and research into autonomous driving, the kit was used to determine the position of sensors on a body and to place them correctly in the car's coordinate system.
High-precision inspection for aerospace and defense
High-precision optical measurement systems are essential for simple, reliable inspection of such large objects as aircraft components, ships and wind turbines. With Artec's Metrology Kit, users can obtain far more accurate data sets and confidently carry out inspections in use cases where repeatability requirements are high. This applies to almost every stage of production, even when the part is in motion. For example, in the UK, Germany and Japan, defense organizations use the Metrology Kit to analyze deformations on the main and secondary panels of large satellite antennas tilted at different angles.
Deformation analysis
The Metrology Kit is perfect for analyzing geometric changes in storage tanks, vehicle components or design prototypes. It can analyze the deformation characteristics of materials under different environmental conditions, such as high temperatures and humidity, when rapid measurements are crucial.
Oil & Gas
A German marine and offshore engineering company with Iso certification analyzes and inspects flanges at offshore sites in the North and Baltic Seas. Fast measurements, simple workflow and dynamic referencing make the Metrology Kit the ideal solution for applications in unstable conditions where high accuracy is required. The company measures the flatness and inclination of large flange sections, borehole diameters, and internal and external diameters. The entire measuring process takes 60 minutes.
Referencing for 3D scanning
The Metrology Kit produces a point cloud with high volumetric accuracy that can be used as a reference for excellent 3D scanning results over distance, especially when scanning large objects or areas with an Artec 3D scanner. Guaranteeing minimal error accumulation, the kit enables Artec Leo or Artec Eva users to multiply volumetric accuracy by up to 14.
