Symetrie was awarded the Micron d'Or in the "Microtechnical equipment for production or laboratory machines" category at the Micronora trade show on September 27, 2022 in Besançon, France, for its Mauka hexapod, an innovative, space-saving positioning system.
The Microns and Nano d'Or competition rewards innovative microtechnology and nanotechnology products presented for the first time at Micronora, Europe's leading microtechnology and precision trade show.
The trophy was presented to Symmetry's two co-founders, Olivier Lapierre, Chairman, and Thierry Roux, Technical Director, by Jean Verillac, Director of Enterprise and Engineering at Banque Populaire de Bourgogne-Franche-Comté, official partner of the Microns and Nano d'Or competition.
Olivier Lapierre declared " We are very honored to receive this award, which testifies to the recognition by professionals of the quality of our products, which are the fruit of the hard work and perseverance of all our employees. "
The Mauka hexapod can position loads of up to 5 kg with a resolution of 0.5 μm in translation and 5 μrad in rotation according to the six degrees of freedom. Its small diameter of 107 mm makes it ideal for telescope-type applications or optical instrumentation requiring low occultation.
To reduce space requirements, the motors are mounted in line to create a so-called hexaglide architecture, as opposed to a conventional Stewart platform hexapod.
