Symetrie received the Micron d'Or in the category "Microtechnical equipment for production or laboratory machines" at the Micronora exhibition on September 27, 2022 in Besançon for its hexapod Mauka, an innovative positioning system with a small footprint.
The Microns and Nano d'Or competition rewards innovative microtechnical and nanotechnological achievements, presented for the first time as part of Micronora, Europe's leading trade fair for microtechnology and precision.
The trophy was presented to the two co-founders of Symétrie, Olivier Lapierre, President, and Thierry Roux, Technical Director, by Jean Verillac, Director of Companies and Engineering of the Banque Populaire de Bourgogne-Franche-Comté, official partner of the Microns and Nano d'Or competition.
Olivier Lapierre said, "We are very honored to receive this award, which is a testament to the recognition by professionals of the quality of our products, which is the result of the work and perseverance of all our employees."
The Mauka hexapod can position loads of up to 5 kg with a resolution of 0.5 μm in translation and 5 μrad in rotation according to the six degrees of freedom. Its small diameter of 107 mm makes it ideal for telescope or optical instrumentation applications requiring low occultation.
To reduce the footprint, the motors are mounted in-line to obtain an architecture called hexaglide, unlike a conventional Stewart platform hexapod.
