Renishaw, a multinational company dedicated to metrology, has launched an innovative metal graduated disk for its Atom DX series of encoders: the Centrum CSF40 disk.
After intensive research and development, Renishaw now completes its RCDM glass disc range with Centrum stainless steel self-centering discs.
Centrum CSF40 graduated disks are quick and easy to install the first time, thanks to innovative mounting features that automatically center the disk as it is placed on an appropriately sized machine shaft. These alignment features enable rapid installation with extremely consistent installation accuracy.
Centrum graduated discs are significantly faster and easier to install, thanks to specially designed flexible elements that act like springs to align the discs on the shaft. Installation of Centrum discs is completed by the addition of three screws, tightened to preset torques. No additional comparison or adjustment devices are required.
Centrum discs are made from robust stainless steel, which is both resilient and easy to clean.
With incremental graduations in 40-micron steps, CSF40 disks are available in a range of sizes from 38.4 mm to 120 mm OD. An Atom version, compatible with Centrum disks, will also be launched in due course.
Ben Carruthers-Watt, Senior Design Engineer for Centrum, explains the features and benefits of Centrum CSF40 rules:
" Our new Centrum CSF40 stainless steel discs feature three flexible alignment elements, optimized for speed and ease of installation. CSF40 discs are automatically aligned, so no manual alignment is required. As a result, installation times are considerably reduced and the assembly process is simplified. In this first version, we have provided mounting holes so that the disc can be screwed directly onto the machine shaft, avoiding a time-consuming gluing and drying process. The design of the disc is optimized to guarantee the best performance with the smallest read head, the Atom DX, thus creating a compact coding system. In the near future, we plan to extend the Centrum range to include other mounting options, such as adhesive tape or mechanical clamps, offering even greater flexibility to meet our customers' design needs. "
Renishaw's Centrum CSF40 encoder rules are manufactured in-house according to strict quality controls, enabling Iso 9001:2015 certification. Renishaw coding systems are distributed through a worldwide sales and support network of subsidiaries in 36 countries.
