In its last e-mail (dated March 2001), the French company Ixtrem mentions its work in favour of environmental protection.
After the implementation in 2010 of the ECO research project NDT dedicated to the use of surface guided waves as an alternative to resuspecting and magnetoscopy, the European community has indeed selected the Green Testing project submitted by Ixtrem,in partnership with Cetim and Holo3,as part of its call for a LIFE project.
In this project, the consortium will raise awareness of the reduction of at least 20% of the environmental impacts of resurfing and magnetoscopy. A guide to good practice for industrialists is expected to be published. In parallel, a program will be defined to demonstrate the performance of a set of alternative techniques (guided ultrasound waves, acoustic resonance and vibrothermography) for the detection of surface defects.
