In its last electronic letter (dated March 2001), the French company Ixtrem évoque son action en faveur de la protection de l’environnement.
After the implementation in 2010 of the ECO NDT research project dedicated to the use of guided surface waves as an alternative to penetrant testing and magnetic particle inspection, the European community has indeed selected the Green Testing project submitted by Ixtremin partnership with the Cetim and Holo3in the framework of its LIFE+ call for projects.
In this project, the consortium will carry out an awareness action to reduce by at least 20 % the environmental impacts of penetrant testing and magnetic particle inspection. It is thus planned to publish a guide of good practices for the industrialists. In parallel, a program will be defined to demonstrate the performance of a set of alternative techniques (guided ultrasonic waves, acoustic resonance and vibrothermography) for the detection of surface defects.
