Land Infrared, Lloyd Instruments, Ortec, Princeton Applied Research, Solartron, Spectro, Taylor Hobson, etc.: the American group Ametek (nearly $3 billion in sales) is best known through its brands, acquired over the years. It continues its external growth policy with the acquisition of TMC (Technical Manufacturing Corp.), a U.S. company specializing in vibration insulation devices. It thus acquires an activity very complementary to that of its measuring instruments since, as everyone knows, many measurements are impossible to achieve if the part or sample to be controlled is subjected to vibrations.
TMC has 40 years of experience in vibration insulators. Its products are marketed in France by Photo Lines SAS (scientific applications) and Euris (applications in semiconductors).
TMC will be integrated intoAmetek'sEIG division, which specializes in precision measurement instruments for machine tools and production systems for the semiconductor, photovoltaic, military and ophthalmo markets. The division generated revenues of $1.2 billion in 2010.
