Bureau Veritas has made two new acquisitions in Germany: UniCar Group, a company specializing in automotive inspection services, and European Compliance Laboratory(ECL),an electrical and electronic testing laboratory. With the recent acquisition of Pockrandt, the Group has thus integrated, since the beginning of the year, three new companies in Germany, representing a total of 14 million euros in annual sales. Founded in 1979 and with an operational headquarters in Bremen, UniCar offers quality control services for car fleets throughout the supply chain. The company inspects new vehicles when transporting between manufacturing plants, storage sites and port terminals. These services are aimed at manufacturers, logistics companies, car rental companies or insurance companies. They aim to check the quality of vehicles and reduce the risk of damage. The company employs more than 150 people and operates in more than 60 ports worldwide. In 2011, it achieved a turnover of nearly 8 million euros. Founded in 1987, the European Compliance Laboratory(ECL)is a laboratory that until then was a branch of Tempton Group,a German human resources services company. Based in Nuremberg, ECL is a specialist in the safety, reliability and electromagnetic compatibility testing of electrical and electronic products and offers calibration services. Its services are primarily aimed at manufacturers of industrial and consumer electrical appliances, telecommunications equipment and medical devices, and automotive manufacturers and equipment manufacturers. ECL employs 15 people and generated sales of 2 million euros in 2011.
