Siemens announces the acquisition of LMS International, market leader in mechatronic testing and simulation for complex products. The Belgian company offers a comprehensive software platform for modeling, simulating and testing vehicles, aircraft and other complex products, in order to optimize their acoustics, vibrations, oscillations, fatigue resistance and dynamics.
" Mechatronics simulation will become increasingly essential to the development and manufacture of intelligent, competitive products. The acquisition of LMS enables us to position ourselves as a leader in this segment, and considerably increase our customers' responsiveness and leverage. "said Siegfried Russwurm, member of the Board of Directors of Siemens AG and CEO of the Industry sector. The purchase price for LMS is around 680 million euros (excluding excess cash). The transaction is subject to regulatory approval.
LMS has over 1,200 employees and achieved sales of close to 140 million euros in the first nine months of 2012, representing growth of over 24 % on 2011. It works in partnership with nearly 5,000 companies in the automotive, aerospace and other advanced manufacturing industries.
