The Innovation 2030 Committee was officially set up by the President of the Republic. Aimed at identifying and helping the "industrial champions" of France of tomorrow and chaired by Anne Lauvergeon, under the aegis of the Minister of Productive Recovery, the commission is composed of twenty personalities, industrialists, scientists, economists and representatives of civil society. Jacques Biot, chairman of the board of directors of the Alès school of mines, sits alongside philosopher Michel Serres, former spationaute Claudie Haigneré, industrialist Louis Gallois and the president of the Aquitaine region, Alain Rousset.
The Innovation 2030 Commission is responsible for proposing to the government "the sectors and technologies where France is likely to hold leadership positions by 2030," according to a statement from the Ministry of Productive Recovery. It should focus on "activities that will meet the needs of tomorrow's society and create the greatest value and jobs in our territory." It will return its work in July 2013.
"It is a great pride for the Alès Mining School, which has been heavily invested in industrial development since its inception. Today, its entrepreneurial pedagogy model is perfectly calibrated to train the operational, open and creative engineers that the French industry needs for its revitalization," enthuses Bruno Goubet, its director.
