The Cetim has made a major investment in its St Etienne center to support manufacturers in the control and performance of their screwed assemblies. These include a high-capacity, high-speed clamping bench, and a powerful traction machine.
The 10,000 N.m high-capacity, high-speed clamping bench is used to characterize and qualify threaded components. It can withstand a force of 1,300 kN and a temperature of 150°C at a speed of 500 rpm. The test bench can be used to measure and determine one or more tightening characteristics, in particular coefficients of friction. In the field of elastic deformation, a linear relationship is assumed between torque and clamping force to calculate the coefficient of thread friction.
The 600 kN tensile testing machine is designed for the mechanical characterization of bonded, welded, screwed and riveted assemblies, as well as complete assemblies (parts and sub-assemblies). It can be used to check compliance with standards or mechanical characteristics for specific requirements. It can withstand tests at extreme temperatures ranging from -70°C to 250°C, with a load of 600 kN. It can also be used to validate assembly design by correlating tests and calculations, with non-contact deformation measurement (image correlation) or contact measurement (instrumentation).
