The pneumatic technology offers extremely precise results when applications of dimensional measurements. The new Hommel-Etammic TPE200 pneumo-electronic converter, designed by Jenoptik's Industrial Metrology Division, greatly expands the possibilities for the use of this measurement technology.
Inflatable metrology has many advantages over other measurement systems: very precise measurements, excellent repeatability and a contactless process to keep the part intact when measuring. Moreover, since the blowing measurement is not influenced by the possible impurities present on the part, this makes it the ideal technology for measurements in an industrial environment.
The pneumatic technology can be used throughout the process of machining parts, from the first machining operations to the finishing. Thanks to Jenoptik's new Hommel-Etammic TPE200 measurement converter, combined with the Hommel-Etamic measurement organs, the blowing measurement achieves a level of performance unmatched to date.
The combination of the TPE 200 converter and a Hommel-Etammic pneumatic measuring organ (stamp, ring, etc.) allows the reading of the pressure variation between the air coming out of the nozzle of the measuring organ and the surface of the part to be controlled. When the distance between the nozzle and the room changes, the pressure also changes. The Hommel-Etammic TPE200 converter then raises this pressure difference and generates a numerical value of the measurement. The converter is the heart of the pneumatic measurement.
The new Hommel-Etammic TPE 200 pneumo-electronic converter combines a very high measurement speed with particularly wide measurement ranges (up to 800 m) allowing new applications (such as profile records).
The Human-Etammic TPE200 converter is barely larger than a matchbox. Its compact yet robust design allows the converter to be integrated as close as possible to the measuring organ, improving response times and accuracy. The CAN OPEN signal and CAN bus conversion is done directly in the TPE200, which simplifies integration into a customer network and eliminates any risk of interference.
The TPE 200 is configurable depending on the application and the associated measuring organ. The standard measurement ranges range from 40 m (up to 20 m) to an unmatched value of 800 m (400 m).
By design, the Hommel-Etammic TPE200 converter significantly reduces response time (the time it takes before a pressure variation is detected). For this reason, the converter is ideal for dynamic measurement applications, especially in engine block drum run-in operations, Centerless grinding or in final control machines.
