FARO will present its new portable 3D measurement solutions for more efficient design and manufacturing processes at Industry Paris 2014.

High-precision 3D laser measurements are gradually becoming the norm in quality assurance. Indeed, many parts can no longer be measured by simple palping, point by point. Industrialists are thus faced with new challenges: measuring parts of ever larger dimensions, shapes with increasing complexity, and this without contact with the room.

FARO, a specialist in portable 3D measurement technology, will present at Industry Paris 2014 its high-performance solutions for dimensional control, digitization, CAD comparison and retro-design, including its new generation of measuring arms with edge Scan Arm ES integrated 3D scanner and its all-new Focus3D X 130 laser scanner. FARO's portable devices can collect accurate and reliable data at a glance and generate measurement reports, and are distinguished by their simple and intuitive use.

The new Edge ScanArm ES measurement arm will be in the spotlight at the show: it combines the power of FARO's Laser Line Probe ES 3D scanner with the flexibility of using the FaroArm measuring arm to form the world's most compact, lightweight and affordable 3D contactless measurement system. Its "Enhanced Scanning" technology, derived from improvements in both hardware and software, enhances performance by allowing the digitization of surfaces with complex, reflective or dark optical properties, without pre-preparation or powdering of parts. New, improved filtering algorithms automatically adjust and optimize scanning parameters to material (plastic, metal), surface finish and color.

Visitors to the FARO booth will also have the opportunity to discover the new Focus3D X 130 laser scanner. Lightweight and extremely compact and mobile, it has a range of 130 meters and is able to scan objects even in full sun. Thanks to its built-in GPS receiver, the laser scanner is able to correlate individual scans during post-processing. In addition, the scanning quality has been improved and the measurement noise reduced, allowing the FARO Focus3D X 130 to provide three-dimensional models that are accurate and similar to real photos. These advantages make the Focus3D X 130 the ideal instrument for dimensional control of large parts and the survey of factories or technical installations.

"FARO's new generation of laser measuring devices offers a great simplicity of use and a high level of performance without ever sacrificing measurement accuracy," says Christophe Bénard, Head of FARO France. "It has an excellent value for money and is expected to attract many industrialists to our stand."

FARO will also present on its stand the other 3D measurement systems in its range: the FaroArm measuring arms, the PORTABLE MMT FARO Gage and the Laser Tracker Vantage. FARO portable measurement systems simplify the most complex measurements. They enable high-precision alignments, calibrations, inspections, retro-design and 3D documentation.
