FARO will be presenting its new portable 3D measurement solutions for more efficient design and manufacturing processes at Industrie Paris 2014.
High-precision 3D laser measurement is gradually becoming the norm for quality assurance. Indeed, many parts can no longer be measured simply by probing, point by point. Manufacturers are therefore faced with new challenges: measuring parts of ever larger dimensions, with increasingly complex shapes, and all without contact with the part itself.
FARO, a specialist in portable 3D measurement technology, will be presenting its high-performance solutions for dimensional inspection, digitization, CAD comparison and reverse engineering at Industrie Paris 2014, including its new generation of measuring arms with integrated 3D scanner Edge ScanArm ES and its brand-new Focus3D X 130 laser scanner. FARO's hand-held devices enable precise, reliable data to be collected and measurement reports to be generated in next to no time, and are distinguished by their simple, intuitive operation.
The new Edge ScanArm ES measuring arm will be in the spotlight at the show: it combines the power of FARO's Laser Line Probe ES 3D scanner with the flexibility of the FaroArm measuring arm to form the world's most compact, lightweight and affordable non-contact 3D measuring system. Its "Enhanced Scanning" technology, the result of improvements to both hardware and software, boosts performance by enabling the scanning of surfaces with complex optical properties, whether reflective or dark, without the need for prior preparation or powdering of parts. New, improved filtering algorithms automatically adjust and optimize scanning parameters to suit the material (plastic, metal), surface finish and color.
Visitors to the FARO stand will also have the opportunity to discover the new Focus3D X 130 laser scanner. Lightweight, extremely compact and mobile, it has a range of 130 meters and is capable of scanning objects even in direct sunlight. Thanks to its integrated GPS receiver, the laser scanner is able to correlate individual scans during post-processing. In addition, scan quality has been improved and measurement noise reduced, enabling the FARO Focus3D X 130 to deliver accurate, photo-like three-dimensional models. This makes the Focus3D X 130 ideal for dimensional inspection of large parts, and for surveying factories and technical installations.
"FARO's new generation of laser measuring devices offers ease of use and a high level of performance, without ever sacrificing measurement accuracy", says Christophe Bénard, FARO France Manager. "It offers an excellent quality/performance ratio and should attract many industrialists to our stand."
FARO will also be showcasing its other 3D measuring systems on its stand: FaroArm measuring arms, the FARO Gage portable CMM and the Vantage Laser Tracker. FARO's portable measuring systems simplify even the most complex measurements. They enable high-precision alignment, calibration, inspection, reverse engineering and 3D documentation.
