HBM passed the audit for the renewal of certification in 2014 for its range of weighs. This enables HBM to offer them to all manufacturers of weighing facilities for applications in the United States.
In order to install weighing sets in the U.S. market, a range of requirements must be met. ANational Type Evaluation Program(NTEP) is requested confirming compliance with The National Institute for Standards and Technology (NIST). This institute is comparable to the PTB in Germany (German Institute of Metrology).
This certification requires not only the technical control of the weighing system and the acceptance of scales at the place of use, but also the control and certification of the manufacturer's production facilities, which is certified by a VCAP (Verified Conformity Assessment Program) compliance certificate. This certification is obtained following an audit that mainly evaluates quality assurance systems as well as other specific statistical checks carried out on weighings within the company in accordance with the NIST 44 manual. The audit must be carried out by an external body, for example the NQA, USA.
