Faro Technologies announces the acquisition of kubit GmbH, a world leader in the development of 3D survey and documentation software for the tel-que-build. This acquisition will enable FARO to offer a global offer to professionals ranging from the detailed acquisition of the existing one using the Focus3D laser scanner or the all-new Freestyle3D handheld scanner to the BIM digital model, to the import and processing in AutoCAD.

Based in Dresden, Germany, kubit has been developing proven software since 1999 that enables and simplifies the use of real-world objects in CAD applications. Originally created to directly connect total stations to AutoCAD, kubit is now the market leader in tools to integrate data scanned by 3D laser scanners into CAD environments such as Autodesk Revit and AutoCAD. Kubit software is a studied application of AutoCAD to facilitate the collection, acquisition and analysis of digital data much more quickly. Intuitive tools tailored to the needs of different industries enable rapid, safe and accurate modeling and analysis of 3D laser scanner data in CAD drawings, 3D models and plans.

"The acquisition of kubit is a major step in Faro's strategy to develop an integrated and innovative 3D documentation product offering for the architecture, engineering and construction markets,"said Jay Freeland, President and CEO of Faro. By adding kubit products to our portfolio, customers now have software that is greatly optimized to meet their point cloud modeling, analytics and measurement capability needs, with high connectivity with the Autodesk product suite. »
