Keyence presents the first digital microscope to use a CMOS camera. This high-speed technology has been optimized to offer at least the same image quality as that obtained with a CCD camera. It increases processing speed by a factor of 5 to 10, making all the image processing that has made the VHX Series such a success almost instantaneous.
The new Keyence digital microscope revolutionizes the way imaging and analysis are carried out. The VHX series has been designed to overcome the limitations of traditional optical microscopes by providing near-instantaneous high-resolution images, with high-quality depth-of-field composition and built-in 2D/3D measurement capability, all in a system that anyone can easily learn to use and without specific training.
The VHX 5000 Series innovates by offering processing speeds far superior to the best standards on the market. With a CMOS camera (max. resolution: 4800 x 3600) capable of capturing 50 images per second, the new REMAX V graphics engine selects the different focus positions and the sharpest data for each pixel to generate fully sharp images on screen. Focusing time is virtually eliminated. Processing speed applies to the wide variety of functions offered. Depth composition, for example, is very fast. This function delivers a completely sharp image, even when the target is in relief. The VHX series automatically focuses every time the field of view is moved, and then quickly creates a depth composition image. The stitching function produces a 20,000 x 20,000 pixel image in a matter of seconds, whereas the previous version required several minutes. It is also possible to combine the super high-resolution (blue light) mode with the HDR function to optimize image precision and contrast. The HDR function, which gives a closer, more natural rendering of colors, has been further enhanced by eliminating halo effects.
Compared to conventional microscopes, ergonomics and productivity are far superior. Virtually everything can be controlled via the remote control. The VHX -5000 Series digital microscope automatically manages sharpness, contrast and saturated areas. As a result, it immediately produces high-quality images, enabling observations that are often impossible with other equipment. The user interface has been further enhanced. A few icons are all it takes to activate all the relevant functions. Lenses are fitted with connectors for immediate recognition. Lens changeover can be carried out in a matter of seconds, without the need for cables. 3D analysis has also been enhanced with a shape and measurement analysis function. Finally, the screen size has been increased to 23 inches.
This makes work much more productive and less strenuous than with a conventional microscope: there's no need to adjust posture to the eyepieces. Sharing files and images, as well as exporting measured data, makes work much more efficient. The VHX-5000 also enables user sessions to be defined, with lighting condition settings retained, making observations repeatable and user-independent.
With a magnification range of 0.1 x - 5000x, the VHX series enables a wide range of macro and microscopic observation. Numerous illumination techniques are also supported: transmission, full or partial annular to bring out relief, differential interference contrast (DIC) and, above all, the new mix of bright and dark fields to obtain the best rendering of each of these illuminations on a single image. This is software-controlled, and therefore reproducible.
