In the context of France's re-industrialisation and the very strong challenges related to the materials sector, this strategic agreement is to strengthen the unprecedented cooperation between Cetim and Onera in order to develop a common, innovative and efficient technological offer.
Onera and Cetim are two major players in industrial partnership research: Onera, as an aerospace research centre and pilot for the state of the new Automotive aeronautical sector (AirCar); and Cetim as a French centre of mechanical expertise vying to lead the future Carnot "Mechanical Industries and Processes" (IMP) sector.
With this positioning and their respective and complementary areas of expertise, Cetim and Onera have decided to strengthen their cooperation by developing a strategic partnership aimed primarily at:
- Pooling high-value human and technical resources;
- Increase the value of their technology offerings to industrialists (large groups, ETIs and SMEs);
- Increase the volume of technology transfer to users;
- Strengthen their European leadership in composite materials, hybrid structures and additive manufacturing processes (3D printing).
This unprecedented cooperation has been initiated since 2007 within the Carnot network and has already led to the realization of world premieres such as the development in 2012 of a thermoplastic composite car suspension triangle with PSA. Several joint contracts are already scheduled for Zodiac Aerospace or CNES.
