Since the release of the first compact pressure transmitter in 2012, Krohne has evolved its own "pressure" range. At Achema 2015, the manufacturer unveils a complete range for operating, hydrostatic and differential pressures. The new Optibar series includes a whole range of pressure transmitters with ceramic or metal measuring cells, diaphragm seals for specific applications, primary elements and accessories, designed for flow, level or operating pressure applications - from single transmitters to complete measuring points.
The range includes pressure transmitters with ceramic or metal measuring cells for standard applications: the Optibar PC 5060 with ceramic capacitive measuring cell is designed for all applications working up to relative pressures of +100 bar. The Optibar PM 5060 with metal measuring cell and fully welded process connection is used for high relative pressures up to +1,000 bar, aseptic processes and, in combination with diaphragm seals, for high temperatures or corrosive applications. Krohne also offers compact and ultra-compact transmitters, for OEM applications, for example.
The Optibar DP 7060 differential pressure (DP) transmitter is at the center of the transmitter range. It can be used for flow, level or operating pressure applications up to 420 bar. Integrated absolute pressure measurement means that no additional sensors are required for flow and level applications, e.g. to measure discharge pressure in closed/pressurized tanks. The lowest pressure measurement range of 10 mbar is ideally suited to applications with narrow measurement ranges, and the fast response times make it ideal for use in pulsating flow applications, for example.
All Optibar PC, PM and DP transmitters are based on a modular concept and share interchangeable housings, electronics, display and adjustment modules. This means that different requirements, such as intrinsic safety/explosion-proof concepts or communication options via 4...20 mA HART 7 / HART SIL 2/3, Foundation fieldbus, Profibus PA, can be met from a single platform.
For DP volume or mass flow measurement of liquids, gases or steam, KROHNE offers a wide range of primary elements to complete measuring points with suitable, pre-configured components from a single source. The range covers product temperatures from -200...+1,000°C, operating pressures up to 420 bar, and line diameters from DN25...12,000. As primary elements, averaged pitot tubes are available as a simple, cost-effective and time-stable alternative to orifice plates. Pitot tubes are particularly suitable for applications requiring low pressure drop, when retrofitting existing pipes for flow measurement, for line diameters > DN 300, or in the case of low-pressure gases. The range also includes water-calibrated transmitters for small diameters and low measurement uncertainty, a flow computer, optional pressure and temperature compensation, as well as accessories for safe and easy mounting of pressure transmitters in the process, such as valves and manifolds, condensation pots or generic accessories. All DP flowmeters can be calibrated in water up to DN 3000.
Hydrostatic pressure is used to measure liquid level, density or liquid-liquid interface in open and pressurized tanks of all sizes. The Optibar modular product range offers a complete portfolio of pressure and PD transmitters, diaphragm seals and accessories for the measurement of corrosive and non-corrosive liquids and slurries up to 450°C and 420 bar. Submersible probes are available as a simple solution for level measurement in wells and tanks. A wide range of process connections, including various hygienic fittings for hygienic installation without dead zones, meets the needs of the most diverse industries.
The Optibar modular product also covers operating pressure applications for measuring relative pressure in pipes or tanks from -1...+1000 bar and absolute pressure from 0...+600 bar. Over 250 threaded, flanged and aseptic process connections are available for different industries, including special materials. As standard, transmitters cover process temperatures up to +150°C without a diaphragm seal. For temperatures up to +450°C or corrosive media, Optibar DS diaphragm seals are available, optionally pre-configured for direct, capillary or combined capillary/direct mounting.
