EMC2, the leading French and international Advanced Manufacturing cluster, has just been awarded the European Gold Label by the European Cluster Excellence Initiative (ECEI). This award recognizes EMC2 as one of France's 10 competitive clusters and one of Europe's 58 top-performing clusters.
Created by the European Commission's Directorate-General for Enterprise and Industry, the European Cluster Excellence Initiative aims to assess the level of performance of European cluster governance. This distinction rewards clusters of excellence, while aiming for greater international recognition. The Gold Label, also known as the "European label of excellence", is the result of these assessments, which include a two-day on-site audit (on May 18 and 19 for EMC2). Conducted by independent experts, they culminate in a report with an opinion submitted to a joint committee for decision. EMC2 was evaluated on 31 indicators relating to internal management criteria, business activities and the animation of its ecosystem:
- team qualification
- the composition of its ecosystem
- its services and animation tools
- R&D project monitoring performance
- its success stories, its visibility and its national and international reputation.
For Laurent Manach, General Manager of EMC2, " The Gold Label is recognition of the work carried out by the cluster's teams over several years. This award not only enhances the attractiveness of EMC2 and its region to foreign partners (investors, companies, research centers), but also to European authorities. As a result, the Loire region's production technology skills are even better promoted, particularly for the benefit of SMEs, giving them access to European funding such as Horizon 2020. ".
