EMC2, the leading competitiveness hub in France and internationally on Advanced Manufacturing, has just received the European Gold Label issued by the European Cluster Excellence Initiative (ECEI). This award allows EMC2 to stand out by being among the 10 French competitiveness clusters and the 58 best performing clusters in Europe.
Created by the European Commission's Directorate General for Business and Industry, the European Cluster Excellence Initiative aims to assess the level of governance performance of European clusters. This award recognizes clusters of excellence while seeking greater international recognition. The Gold Label, also known as the "European Label of Excellence", is the implementation of these evaluations, which include a two-day on-site audit (May 18-19 for EMC2). Conducted by independent experts, they lead to the development of a report with an opinion given to an adhoc commission for decision. EMC2 was evaluated on 31 indicators on internal management, activity and ecosystem animation criteria, including:
- his team's qualification
- the composition of its ecosystem
- its services and animation tools
- The performance of monitoring research and development projects
- success stories, national and international visibility and reputation.
Laurent Manach, MANAGING director of EMC2, said: "The gold label is a recognition of the work carried out by the teams of the pole over the past several years. This award allows us not only to strengthen the attractiveness of EMC2 and its territory to foreign partners (investors, companies, research centres) but also to European authorities. Thus, the expertise in the field of production technologies in the Ligurian territory is even better highlighted and especially for the benefit of SMEs to open up access to European financing such as Horizon 2020."
