Hexagon Metrology announces the availability of new options for the latest version of the Tigo SF CMM, used on the shop floor. These features are designed to enable easy integration into a fully automated inspection system on or near the production line, or as part of a complete production/inspection set-up.
With a measuring volume of 500 x 580 x 500 mm and workshop-specific features, the Tigo SF is designed for measuring small and medium-sized parts in difficult manufacturing environments. The machine is open on three sides for maximum accessibility. This makes it ideal for use with robotic part handling or automatic part recognition systems. A new optional I/O kit enables direct interfacing between the CMM and automated lines, as well as data exchange with PLCs (programmable logic controllers). Measurement data can be used for process improvement as part of a broader Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) system.
The Tigo SF operates without air. Robust, it is protected from external pollution by bellows and housings, and features advanced thermal compensation and effective passive damping systems. Active damping devices can be added to enable the machine to be placed close to machining centers or transit areas. An IP54 enclosure is also available to protect the PC and other electronic components, so the CMM can be installed directly in the production area to shorten measurement times and optimize production rates. For plants running fully automated equipment, Hexagon Metrology can supply the equipment with warning lights to alert users to a change in CMM status from a distance.
