Last week, Trescal announced the acquisition of three companies specializing in metrology: Laboratorio MCI (Spain), Quality Systems Laboratory, Inc. (USA) and MEC Q (Brazil). These acquisitions represent additional sales of 8 million euros.
Laboratorio MCI's expertise and excellent reputation in the defense and aeronautics sectors will strengthen Trescal's offering for customers active in these sectors. Its two laboratories, located in Toledo and Seville, complete Trescal's existing network in Spain.
The acquisition of Quality Systems Laboratory gives Trescal a foothold in Florida, a key state for the aerospace and pharmaceutical industries. The company's technical skills - particularly in mass, temperature and volume - will enable it to better serve these fast-growing sectors.
With seventeen accredited areas and five laboratories in the country's main industrial regions (São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Minas Gerais and Bahia), MEC Q is the leader in the Brazilian metrology market. The automotive and petrochemical sectors account for more than half of the company's sales. Trescal will rely on its two founders, Mario Cia and Douglas Camargo, to continue its development in South America.
Guillaume Caroit, General Secretary of the Trescal Group, said: " These acquisitions are fully in line with our strategy of consolidating our position as world leader in metrology services, to support our customers wherever they are. A further acquisition is likely to be announced before the end of the year. "Thibault Basquin, Managing Director of Ardian Mid Cap Buyout, added: " These acquisitions are in line with Trescal's ambitious buy-and-build strategy, as it continues to identify key targets for its development in new markets and geographical areas. "
These acquisitions were made with the support of Trescal's majority shareholder, Ardian, the independent private equity firm. These are the 11e, 12e and 13e acquisition since the purchase of Trescal by Ardian in July 2013.
