Gilles Bernardeau, 56, has been appointed Managing Director of Cerib (Centre d'études et de recherche de l'industrie du béton). He succeeds Marc Lebrun, who has held this position since 2008, and who will continue his work in the field of European relations.
With a Master's degree in solid state chemistry, Gilles Bernardeau has spent most of his professional career in the building materials sector, and in the concrete products industry in particular.
His career began in the cement industry. He then moved on to the precast concrete industry, before taking up a position of responsibility at Afnor. During these years, he developed his technical and managerial skills, particularly in the fields of quality, standardization, concrete materials and construction solutions.
In 2007, he joined Cerib as head of the industrial quality department, developing the company's metrology, product testing, standardization, certification and CE marking activities. In 2012, he was appointed Deputy General Manager of the Center, in charge of managing three operational departments, the fire testing center and the concrete industry standardization office. Over the years, he has brought Cerib and the precast concrete industry his strategic vision in a changing environment, and put his managerial skills to good use in steering the center.
A man of dialogue and conviction, Gilles Bernardeau is also deeply involved in a number of industry bodies concerned with standardization, construction players and continuous improvement. He leads the European working group CEN/TC 229 - WG4 - structural concrete products.
