Hexagon Manufacturing Intelligence markets a new portable laser scanner designed for large-volume inspections. The user-friendly, portable Leica Absolute Scanner LAS-20-8 portable laser scanner makes complex point cloud data collection simpler and faster in workshops.
In combination with the ultra-portable Leica Absolute Tracker AT960, the LAS-20-8 laser scanner performs well in left surface inspections, even on shiny or dark metal materials. Thanks to these features, the training time of each operator is greatly reduced. Thus the less experienced operators quickly take the necessary assurance for the efficient use of the scanner.
Lightweight, ergonomic and battery powered, the LAS-20-8 delivers excellent results in measurement volumes up to 60 metres. Characterized by an IP50 protection index this scanner can be used almost anywhere in the workshop. This scanner is an accessory related to the Tracker, it is very simple to switch from scanning mode to probing or measuring on reflector. A light indication guides the operator to the optimal measurement position. Vibration, acoustic and visual indicators help achieve the best results. The laser intensity automatically adapts to different surface types, and operators can switch between predefined measurement profiles using the scanner's main button, so that they can apply the correct configuration for any section of the part without changing the software setting.
"With the Leica Absolute Scanner LAS-20-8, we wanted to create an affordable portable laser scanner that delivers excellent results without complex installation or long training," says Duncan Redgewell, vice president of portable product at Hexagon Manufacturing Intelligence. "Alongside the Leica T-Scan 5, our state-of-the-art laser scanner for detailed inspections or a combination with robotic or automated systems, the LAS-20-8 offers the right laser scanning solution for any measurement performed in a large volume."
The LAS-20-8 laser scanner, which interacts perfectly with the Leica Absolute Tracker AT960, Leica T-Probe and Leica T-Scan 5, relies on the same RDS interface software as the RomeR Absolute Arm.This range of measuring arms that allows experienced operators to take advantage of the know-how acquired in system controls, clearing procedures and certifications.
The Leica Absolute Scanner LAS-20-8 is available worldwide today in Hexagon Manufacturing Intelligence's distribution network.
