Hexagon Manufacturing Intelligence announces an extension of the functionality of the Senmation Universal Sensor Interface, as it now invests Leitz PMM-C three-dimensional measuring machines (MMTs). This system allows users to perform complex measurements on a single MMT by implementing the right sensor at the right time
Senmation is designed to simplify programming by maximizing machine usage time and productivity through its ability to automatically replace sensors within parts programs. The upgrade adds the robust HP-S-X5 HD analog scanning sensor to the Senmation toolkit, complementing the existing offering of scanning sensors, optical sensors and vision sensors. Compatible with styluss up to 800mm and 650g, the HP-S-X5-HD makes access to parts easier. This new development also allows the Profiler R tactile roughness sensor to be supported in the near future, bringing a new extension to the MMT functionality.
Based on a universal switching unit and intelligent sensor module, and directly integrated into the MMT's vertical axis, Senmation uses a mechanical charging system to apply the sensor without human intervention. An integrated sensor identification system instantly recognizes the sensor and verifies its condition. This frees the user from a recalibration between replacements. The data collected by each sensor is recorded during the same session of the software, allowing users to get a global overview of the part using the sensor best suited to each aspect and characteristic.
