Hexagon Manufacturing Intelligence announces an extension to the functionality of the Senmation universal probe interface, as the system is now available on Leitz PMM-C coordinate measuring machines (CMMs). The system enables users to perform complex measurements on a single CMM, using the right probe at the right time.
Senmation is designed to simplify programming by maximizing machine uptime and productivity through its ability to automatically replace sensors within part programs. The upgraded version adds the robust HP-S-X5 HD analog scanning sensor to the Senmation tool set, completing the existing offering of scanning, optical and vision sensors. Compatible with styli up to 800 mm and 650 g, the HP-S-X5-HD makes access to parts easier. This new development will also soon support the Profiler R tactile roughness probe, providing a further extension to the CMM's functionality.
Based on a universal switching unit and an intelligent sensor module, and directly integrated into the vertical axis of the CMM, Senmation uses a mechanical loading system to apply the sensor without human intervention. An integrated probe identification system instantly recognizes the sensor and checks its status. This eliminates the need for recalibration between replacements. The data collected by each sensor is recorded during the same software session, enabling users to obtain a global overview of the part using the sensor best suited to each aspect and feature.
