Designed for machine vision and scientific imaging applications in microscopy and macroscopy, the new Tucsen TrueChrome Metrics camera features a fully integrated imaging and measurement system, freeing the user from the need for a computer.
By connecting a mouse to the camera and linking the HDMI output to a monitor, you have access to a wide range of tools for measuring multiple shapes, directly on the HD images produced. The camera performs precise measurements, with a resolution of 10 nanometers, and maintains this accuracy even under the most demanding working conditions.
Sony's 2.3-megapixel Exmor CMOS sensor generates high-definition images. It transmits color images directly to the connected screen at a speed of 60 frames per second at 1080 pixels. This means users can manipulate images with ease, without any lag or slowdown. An SD card can be used to record and view 6-megapixel images and full HD video sequences, along with the measurements taken. Thanks to the image comparison mode, it is possible to simultaneously view the current image and a previously recorded image for comparison.
With a wide range of exposure times (from 1 ms to 10 s) and 20 levels of gain adjustment, the camera can be used for a multitude of applications, including low-light fluorescence imaging. A highly effective 3D noise reduction system compensates for the increase in image noise with very long exposures, guaranteeing perfect sharpness, especially for images rich in detail.
The camera also features an automatic settings optimization function that enhances image quality whatever the application. Exposure times, color saturation and automatic white balance ensure excellent image quality with a minimum of manual adjustments, for bright field applications such as biology, or dark field applications such as birefringent crystals. Adjustments can also be made manually if required.
TrueChrome Metrics incorporates an extremely powerful measuring tool for a wide variety of shapes such as freehand lines, rectangles, polygons and single or double circles. It measures point-line distances, angles, the length of curved or straight lines, as well as the perimeter and area of closed figures (rectangles, polygons, circles). Results can be exported as Excel or text files on the SD card.
Easily calibrated, the camera can save up to 10 calibration files for different microscope or lens configurations. Measurements can be made in µm, mm and cm for use in microscopy or macroscopy. The integrated user interface is incredibly easy to use. Only two icons appear on the screen, one for image capture and the other for settings. For measurements, simply right-click on the current image to bring up the menu.
For users who prefer to work from a PC instead of a stand-alone system, it is also possible to connect the camera to a PC via a USB2.0 cable. A professional vision software application is supplied with the camera, enabling it to be controlled from the PC, with advanced image processing functions: wide dynamic range, focus stacking and image stitching, full range of measurement tools, as well as archiving and management functions.
