NI announces the launch of the NI PXIe-4081 module, a new 71/2-digit high-performance digital multimeter with an isolated 1.8 Méch./s scanner. This is the first digital multimeter available in PXI Express format. It has the necessary flexibility, resolution and insulation properties to address complex applications that require smarter testing systems in a variety of sectors, from consumer electronics to aerospace and defense.
The NI PXIe-4081 module is the industry's most accurate 71/2 digit digital multimeter, with CC voltage measurement fidelity at 15 ppm, up to two years after calibration. Its voltage measurement ranges from nanovolt to kilovolt, and from a few microohms to several gigaohms for resistance measurements. With a switching shunt configuration, the module offers eight CC current intensity ranges (from 1 A to 3 A) and six CA efficient current intensity ranges (from 100 A to 3 A). This multimeter occupies a single PXI 3U location and has excellent track density for large-track systems, i.e. 17 lanes in a single PXI chassis occupying 4 bais units. For high-speed applications, the insulated scanner mode allows CC-coupling signals to be acquired in all voltage and intensity ranges, at a maximum sampling frequency of 1.8 Méch./s. By changing this frequency, engineers can adjust the speed of the scanner between 10 and 23 bits to achieve the perfect balance between speed and accuracy.
The interactive software front-facing for simple measurement and autofocus applications offers the same ease of use as a traditional instrument. The software driver includes a quality programming interface, compatible with a large number of development environments such as C, Microsoft .NET and LabVIEW. This driver also contains help files, comprehensive documentation and 28 examples of ready-to-use programs to facilitate the development of test programs.
"Customers often turn to the PXI platform to reduce automatic testing costs, taking into account the accuracy, track density and speed of PXI instruments,"says Steve Warntjes, NI's vice president of modular instruments research and development. TheNI PXIe-4081 module is based on the PXI-sized digital multimeters, which NI has been pleased with for more than 20 years. It has migration options that are coded compatible with PXI Express products, extends the lifecycle of critical testing and measurement features, and delivers the best possible performance. »
