Two new 16k models have been added to Teledyne DALSA's Piranha XL CMOS TDI series of ultra-fast line-scan cameras. These new XDR models have been optimized to provide extended dynamic range, improved signal-to-noise ratio and excellent overall performance in a wide range of lighting conditions.
Equipped with exposure control, the Piranha XL XDR is the ideal camera for high-speed quality control, in applications as varied as the detection of small defects on LCD and OLED flat screens, printed circuit boards, plastic films or long strips of material. In variable-rate applications, objects are often over- or underexposed when exposure times are fixed in advance. On the Piranha XL XDR, exposure control is extremely precise, guaranteeing consistent exposure of objects, even when object throughput varies. This exposure control function also allows for different exposures on each line and an extended dynamic range.
The Piranha XL XDR offers a maximum frequency of 125 kHz and 16k resolution. The TDI (Time Delay Integration) function provides high sensitivity with very low noise, and lets you choose between 8 or 12 lines. This means you can adapt the number of lines to suit the needs and lighting conditions of the application in hand, significantly improving image quality in high-speed applications. High resolution, high speed: thanks to this camera, the system achieves faster work rates with fewer cameras, which also reduces costs. What's more, thanks to an improved signal-to-noise ratio, even the smallest defects become visible in a wide range of lighting conditions. The camera's exceptionally high sensitivity (up to 1200 DN/njcm² at 12 bit and 1x gain) enables excellent results to be achieved in low-light applications, and avoids costly investment in an additional lighting system.
The industry-standard CLHS interface equips these new cameras, enabling ultra-fast data transfer over long distances with flexible cabling. This, combined with the camera's integrated Trigger-to-Image-Reliability (T2IR) framework, protects every bit at a data rate of 2.0 GB/s. T2IR enables monitoring, diagnostics, track & trace and buffer storage. This ensures highly accurate and reliable inspection results, reducing machine downtime, improving productivity and cutting costs. T2IR is also available if you combine products, for example by combining the Piranha XL XDR with Teledyne DALSA's Xtium CameraLink HS frame grabber.
