How to prepare for a metrology audit? is the new technical guide in the Collège français de métrologie (CFM) collection, written by a CFM working group and published by Afnor Editions.
The aim of this document is to clarify the approach to metrology within the framework of these management systems, and in particular during certification, accreditation or customer audits. It is intended to provide answers on the subject of metrology. Auditees" will be better prepared, and will be able to improve the quality of their responses during audits, as well as their handling of any discrepancies detected. It is also of interest to auditors, as it provides them with a metrology specialist's view of the various requirements.
Management system standards exist in four main areas: quality (ISO 9001 - ISO 13485 - IATF 16949), environment (ISO 14001), occupational health and safety (OHSAS 18001) and energy efficiency (NF EN ISO 50001).
Three standards concern quality management and skills management, in the context of conformity assessment: ISO/CEI 17025, ISO 15189 and ISO/CEI 17020. This guide also refers to ISO 10012 as a tool for process management.
