The Aeronautical and Electrical Fire Test Laboratory, better known by its acronym LEFAE, is a testing centre specializing in the design, development and implementation of high-stress tests, particularly in the areas of fire resistance and non-spread of fire.
Located in Chaponost in the Lyon region, LEFAE was founded at the end of 2005. It currently has 6 employees with a turnover of 1,300k euros in 2016.
Particularly renowned in the aeronautical field in France and abroad, LEFAE allows the emitech group to add a new area of expertise to its wide range of tests: safety, radio, electromagnetic compatibility, climate, mechanics, physical-chemical, acoustics, reliability.
The choice to become a subsidiary of the Emitech Group is a guarantee of sustainability and development for the company as the synergies with Emitech are promising.
LEFAE's fire-testing know-how is expressed in tests demonstrating the suitability of materials, equipment, cables, seats and structural elements installed inside aircraft (in cabins, cargo compartments) and in critical areas of aircraft (engines, fuselage, wing) to deal with fire situations: fire resistance, self-expression, opacity measures , smoke toxicity thresholds, thermal capacity are assessed and quantified. These skills are acted upon and recognized by the players in the aviation world and have contributed greatly to the success of LEFAE. This same know-how applies to fires in the energy, rail and automotive sectors.
The Emitech Group is a natural interlocutor for all manufacturers concerned with the qualification and marketing requirements. LEFAE's offer is therefore expected to benefit from better visibility and to complement that of the group. For Emitech, the arrival of LEFAE as the 6th subsidiary is an enrichment of its test offering by a new area of expertise. This acquisition thus meets two strong requirements: to offer its customers an ever-expanding global service and to develop the group's potential market.
