The Laboratoire d'essais feux aéronautiques et electrique, better known by its acronym LEFAE, is a test center specializing in the design, development and implementation of high-stress tests, particularly in the fields of fire resistance and non-fire propagation.
Located in Chaponost in the Lyon region, LEFAE was created at the end of 2005. It currently employs 6 people and generated sales of €1,300k in 2016.
LEFAE is particularly well known in the aeronautical sector, both in France and abroad, and enables the emitech group to add a new area of expertise to its very broad range of tests: safety, radio, electromagnetic compatibility, climatic, mechanical, physico-chemical, acoustic and reliability.
The decision to become a subsidiary of the Emitech group is a guarantee of the company's long-term future and development, given the promising synergies with Emitech.
LEFAE's fire-testing expertise is expressed in tests demonstrating the ability of materials, equipment, cables, seats and structural elements installed inside aircraft (cabins, cargo compartments) and in critical areas of aircraft (engines, fuselage, wings) to withstand fire situations: fire resistance, self-extinguishability, opacity measurements, smoke toxicity thresholds and thermal capacities are evaluated and quantified. These skills are well established and recognized by the aeronautical industry, and have made a major contribution to LEFAE's success. The same expertise is applied to fires in the energy, rail and automotive sectors.
The Emitech Group is a natural partner for all manufacturers concerned by qualification and marketing requirements. LEFAE's offer will therefore benefit from greater visibility and complement that of the group. For Emitech, the arrival of LEFAE as a 6th subsidiary represents an enrichment of its testing offer by a new area of expertise. This acquisition meets two key requirements: to offer its customers an ever broader range of global services, and to develop the Group's market potential.
