As of 2018, Cetim joins the world-renowned research ecosystem of the Plateau de Saclay and thus establishes itself in the Île-de-France region. A collective ambition: the creation of the world-class research platform, Additive Factory Hub, which pools skills and resources to meet the challenges of additive manufacturing.
Innovation and research are at the heart of the competitiveness of French industry. That's why Cetim, a Carnot-accredited mechanical engineering technology institute, has decided to join the French research ecosystem gathered on the Plateau de Saclay in 2018. Ranked among the top 8 innovative clusters (MIT Technology Review(Université Paris-Saclay, 2013), it is recognized worldwide in the fields of digital technology, physics and materials.
Cetim's ambition is to create the "Additive Factory Hub" in Saclay, a world-class research platform dedicated to the development of industry through Additive Manufacturing. The aim is to pool the most effective expertise and resources to meet the challenges of this technology and increase its impact on industry. In line with national initiatives, it will be an international showcase for the know-how of the Paris Region, serving its ecosystem. This 5-year, €40 million project brings together major industrial and academic players: Cetim, Safran, CEA List, Arts et Métiers, Onera, SystemX, Air Liquide, Polyshape, EDF, Addup...
A new, strong territorial base
This new facility in the Paris region will be a hub for the dissemination, training and transfer of technology to SMEs, which will be able to draw on the resources and expertise of a team of experts to help them master additive manufacturing technologies.
Leading the regional deployment of the industry of the future within AIF(1)In this way, Cetim is bringing the approach to the industrial fabric. The technical center is also determined to strengthen its actions in support of strategic industries in the Paris region, particularly the aerospace industry, in synergy with Safran.
On the strength of its 15 years of experience with the Comité mécanique Île-de-France and its 2,000 members in the Paris region, Cetim intends to pursue and expand its mission of supporting manufacturing companies in their development of new technologies, both on a day-to-day basis and as part of structuring initiatives such as Additive Factory Hub and Factory Lab.(2) surrounded by its partners.
(1) The Alliance Industrie du Futur (AIF) was created in July 2015. It is focusing its efforts on six priority areas: supporting companies in their move towards the industry of the future, developing the technological offering of the future, preparing people for the industry of the future (co-evolution, foresight and training), promoting the industry of the future, reinforcing standardization actions, particularly internationally, and promoting the existing technological offering.
(2) Factory Lab is a "project hotel". Hosted by CEA List, this platform is designed to accommodate around twenty projects simultaneously, for a period of 6 to 18 months. Four main themes are explored: flexible digital factory, automation of manufacturing and control processes, physical assistance for operators and cognitive assistance for operators. To meet the concrete needs expressed by the industrial "users" involved in the platform (Groupe PSA, Safran, DCNS, Dassault Systèmes, Actemium), each project integrates mature technology bricks from technology suppliers and innovative bricks contributed by Cetim, CEA List and Arts & Métiers.
