On June 27, Afnor's Board of Directors elected Marc Ventre as its new Chairman. Like his predecessor, Claude Satinet, former CEO of Citroën, Marc Ventre comes from the world of industry, and more particularly the aeronautics sector.
Following Afnor's Annual General Meeting, the Board of Directors appointed Marc Ventre as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the voluntary standards association for a three-year term. This appointment has received the approval of the French Minister for the Economy, Finance and Industry, Bruno Le Maire, as stipulated in the association's articles of association.
Marc Ventre is Chairman of Groupe des industries métallurgiques de la région parisienne (GIM) and Chairman of the Board of Ariane Group.
Born in 1950, he is a graduate of the Ecole Centrale de Paris and holds an engineering degree from the University of Paris. Master of Sciences from Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Over the course of his forty-year career, he distinguished himself in the aerospace industry, holding a number of positions within the Safran group: representative of Snecma (now Safran Aircraft Engines) in the United States, head of several plants in France, CEO of Hispano-Suiza and then Snecma Services, he became Chairman and CEO of Snecma in 2003 and, in 2006, Executive Vice President of Safran, in charge of the Aerospace Propulsion branch. In 2011, he was appointed Executive Vice President, Operations of Safran, a position he held until April 2015.
On June 28, 2017, he was elected President of the IESF (French Society of Engineers and Scientists).
Marc Ventre also sits on several boards of directors, is deputy mayor in charge of economic development and employment for the commune of Veynes (Haute Alpes) and is vice-chairman of the Buëch Devoluy intercommunal council.
