Micronora, an international microtechnical and precision fair, will be held in Besançon from 25 to 28 September 2018. Michèle Blondeau, general manager of the show, discusses why microtechnicals have never fared so well. Increasingly solicited by contractors, the microtechnical industry allows them to respond faster, better and cheaper to increasingly complex projects.
How do you explain the vitality of the precision and microtechnology sector?
It is clear that this sector continues to offer innovations in all areas. Whether in micro-manufacturing, in the fields of materials or means of control, or automatisms, to name a few. Thanks to these technological advances, we are able to develop lighter, more economical, less polluting products that are better suited to the needs.
Which markets are affected by these innovative solutions?
Applications are found in almost all industrial areas. These objectives are valid for automotive manufacturing as well as for aeronautics, medical, luxury, telecommunications or electronics. In fact, very few industries can do without micro-technology. Faced with complex design and manufacturing challenges, large companies as well as SMEs are always looking for innovative solutions. This explains their interest in these technologies. This development is not likely to dry up, and which makes it possible to say that microtechnical companies will be increasingly in demand. Without their input, it will be impossible to accomplish the technological feats of tomorrow, which will see the birth of autonomous cars as well as electric aircraft or new personalized medical solutions. Or even the implementation of the factory of the future...
Your living room is regularly full 7 to 8 months before it opens. How do you explain it?
By strengthening its specificity in the fields of high precision, miniaturization and the integration of complex functions, essential for the realization of increasingly intelligent products, Micronora is perfectly in line with the needs of these markets. All major technological developments, both in the field of design and in the field of production, are present at each edition. From research and development to subcontracting, to the means of production. A sign of the times, the show has also become a reference in nanotechnology. Moreover, its strong reputation and its enhanced internationalization with each edition, make Micronora a must-see event in Europe and beyond.
Is the microtechnical industry concerned with the Industry 4.0 concept?
A tireless innovator, micro-technology companies are resolutely forward-looking. Our show proves this in each of its editions, with cutting-edge products, methods and solutions. But while digital transformation is the key to the future of the industry and some companies will need to be accompanied to make the shift to this fourth industrial revolution, others have not waited for the industry of the future to become a national priority to make it their present. For a simple reason: the Industry 4.0 approach boosts productivity by improving their overall functioning. It is enough to mention, to illustrate these benefits, the best exploitation of the data provided by the multiple computer tools used by companies. A major challenge...
What will be the strengths of the next edition?
Innovation over and over again!
Industry 4.0: Digital in microtechnology, the theme of the next zoom, will be one of the highlights of the show, with a manufacturing island whose elements will be connected in real time.
But also, the BtoB meetings of the 11th Micro Nano Event that will allow companies or research laboratories to initiate partnerships in order to better address European markets. They will take place on September 27 and 28.
A conference programme will also take place in parallel with the fair, with hot topics, technologically speaking.
Finally, the "Microns and Nano d'Or" competition will reward the most emblematic innovations.
Other actions under development will complement this program.
