Beamex introduces the Beamex MC6-Ex, an advanced intrinsically safe field calibrator and communicator.
In many processing industries, certain parts of plants are classified as "hazardous areas" or "explosive zones", i.e. areas which contain or are likely to contain flammable substances such as gas, steam or dust.
Industries with hazardous areas include chemical and petrochemical plants, onshore and offshore oil and gas production facilities, oil refineries, pharmaceuticals, food processing, power generation, paint shops and mining.
If a technician wishes to use a standard, non-Ex calibrator in a hazardous area, he will need a fire permit, which requires time, effort and paperwork. He will then need to carry out a risk assessment and wear additional safety equipment, such as gas analyzers. Using an Ex-certified intrinsically safe calibrator in an explosive area is both a safer and simpler choice.
Ideal for use in the field
Beamex presents a new calibrator: the Beamex MC6-Ex.
The Beamex MC6-Ex is an advanced, high-precision calibrator and communicator with exceptional features. It is a multifunctional documentation calibrator and communicator offering calibration capabilities for pressure, temperature and various electrical signals. It also includes a field communicator for HART, FOUNDATION Fieldbus and Profibus PA instruments.
The MC6-Ex is an IEC and ATEX-certified calibrator and can be used in any hazardous area, even in Zone 0 / Division 1 locations. Its certification classification is Ex II 1 G and Ex ia IIC T4 Ga.
It is important to note that some commercially available Ex devices/calibrators are not suitable for use in all explosive plant areas, which can lead to dangerous situations.
The MC6-Ex's robust, water/dust-resistant IP65 housing, ergonomic design and ease of use make it ideal for use in the field.
The MC6-Ex communicates with Beamex calibration management software, enabling fully automated, paperless calibration and documentation. The MC6-Ex can also be integrated paperlessly into the customer's own ERP system.
Other features include: an internal loop power supply, up to three internal pressure measurement modules and external modules, a large 5.7" backlit color touchscreen with multilingual user interface, an intelligent field-replaceable battery, an integrated field communicator, documentation capability and data logging functionality. In addition, communications with pressure and temperature controllers are possible in a secure environment.
"We're really excited to release the new MC6-Ex calibrator and communicator. We're convinced it's the first intrinsically safe calibrator on the market that doesn't compromise functionality or usability," said Jan-Henrik Svensson, CEO of Beamex.
The MC6-Ex is the new benchmark for intrinsically safe process calibrators.
