Since 2015, Maurin Fixation has been investing in its testing laboratory. A rarity in its field, in 2017 the company equipped itself with a torque/tension bench that enables it to push its technical expertise even further. This investment is the next logical step in Maurin Fixation's strategy of focusing on customer service and support.
Maurin Fixation has been modernizing its inspection laboratory since 2015. Its mission is to inspect incoming parts, before and after subcontracting, according to established rules. It also acts as an expert for specific customer requests, providing expert opinions and recommendations.
In addition to "conventional" measurement and control equipment, since 2015 the laboratory has been equipped with a range of equipment enabling it to carry out hardness measurements (Vickers, Rockwell), coating thickness measurements (fluorescence, metallography), torque measurements (torque wrench), dimensional measurements (optical 2D, profile projector, PC, micrometer) and jig checks (threaded rings and pads).
Taking control and technical expertise to the next level for customers
To take control even further and to offer its customers first-rate technical expertise, Maurin Fixation equipped itself with an Automatica torque/tension bench during 2017.
A rarity in the fastener sector, this bench enables the company to check the conformity of fastening products in terms of coefficients of friction (ISO 16047 standard), and to generate control sheets (screws/studs, nuts). It is also able to verify the conformity of self-locking products (self-locking nuts) to ISO 2320, and carry out fitness-for-use tests to verify the conformity of high-strength HV, HR and HRC bolts (standard EN 14399-2).
As Romain Fantin, Technical Department Manager at Maurin Fixation, explains, ". the conditions under which our customers install our products are not always optimal, even though for structural bolts, for example, the installation torque is indicated on the packaging, along with the conditions of use and precautions to be taken. With the torque/tension bench, the Maurin Fixation laboratory is able to analyze bolts and check their suitability for use. This eliminates the need to stop work in the event of a problem, as well as the need to call in external expertise, thus gaining in autonomy and responsiveness. "
Another considerable advantage: thanks to the torque/tension tests carried out on the bench, Maurin Fixation is now able to characterize assemblies. The company's customers benefit from its expertise in recommending assembly conditions for their own assemblies.
A team of technical experts
In terms of people, the control laboratory team has doubled since 2014. It now numbers 6 people. More globally, Maurin Fixation's technical department is made up of a team of technical experts for each business sector (industry, automotive, rail, infrastructure...). Some participate in standardization committees (with Afnor and UNM-Artema) for the normative environments of each business sector (ISO, NF, DTRF standards, etc.).
