Flir has announced the identiFINDER R100 personal radiation detector, joining its industry-leading identiFINDER R-series of radiation safety solutions. The belt-worn R100 integrates network capabilities that help protect first responders, law enforcement, military and security personnel by providing immediate alerts of radiological threats, as well as automatically generating reports of radiation dose rates. This enables central command to gain a better understanding of the situation.
The identiFINDER R100 is the industry's first IP67-certified personal radiation detector to comply with American National Standards Institute (ANSI) anti-drop test standards. The device meets the 1.5 m drop test requirements of ANSI N42.32, one of the leading performance standards for PRDs used in homeland security. The IP67 rating guarantees that the R100 is protected against dust and water immersion to a depth of 1 m. The device incorporates Bluetooth Smart wireless technology, making it easy to record and send real-time dose rates and geolocation information via the companion mobile application.
"As the only personal radiation detector that meets ANSI fall test standards and is IP67 certified, the R100 is the toughest first aid personal radiation detector on the market," said Dennis Barket, Jr. vice president and general manager of Flir Detection. When teams deploy it, the R100 is their primary safety net. It protects them on the front line of radiological threats, while built-in network functionality eliminates communication gaps with central command."
In Europe, the identiFINDER R100 will be on show at theIEEE NSS/MIC 2016 from October 29 to November 5 in Strasbourg, France.
