ENDRESS+HAUSER'S PARTNERSHIP PROGRAM ELIMINATES ALL KINDS OF INTEGRATION PROBLEMS
Endress+Hauser's "Open Integration" partnership program aims to mitigate risks during commissioning of customer installations by ensuring that operators can easily integrate their peripherals and components into automation systems. To date, eight companies are participating in the program: AUMA Riester, HIMA Paul Hildebrandt, Honeywell Process Solutions, Mitsubishi Electric, Pepperl+Fuchs, Rockwell Automation, R. STAHL and Schneider Electric. Phoenix Contact and Flowserve have also joined the program.
Although today's communication systems (HART, PROFIBUS, FOUNDATION Fieldbus, EtherNet/IP or PROFINET) are rigorously tested, there are still countless ways of combining them, and there is still a risk when installing them on site.
"With the Open Integration partnership program, we mitigate this risk," says Peter Rippen, Director of Strategic Alliances at Endress+Hauser. "Users can derive enormous benefits by combining state-of-the-art automation components with an optimal solution for their application."
Program partners go far beyond traditional testing methods by verifying the functionality of specific architectures in a laboratory environment. "We ensure rapid commissioning and start-up, and save customers resources, time and therefore money," explains Peter Rippen.
"This benefits everyone, our customers and automation suppliers alike, as it's much more efficient to discover the problems to be solved before the equipment is installed and commissioned in the customer's plant."
Reference architectures are the key
The partnership program defines reference architectures - exact combinations of automation products found in a particular industrial application, or preferred by a specific customer. The selected components are then installed in a control cabinet, and the resulting system commissioned and tested. All stages are well documented, and any problems can be quickly resolved by the partners involved.
After successful testing, the reference architecture is published as a joint recommendation, giving customers concrete, validated suggestions for automating their plant. To date, four reference architectures have been published, and several more are under development.
Powerful new partners on board
These two new partners bring different automation know-how to the table, and extend the range of products and solutions covered by the Open Integration partnership program. "Phoenix Contact is an important partner in many projects, and its system products are preferred by a number of key customers," explains Joerg Reinkensmeier, Open Integration Marketing Manager at Endress+Hauser.
"Flowserve also operates worldwide, and its valves and pumps are often combined with Endress+Hauser measuring instruments." A stronger partnership brings benefits to all participants, but customers in particular can now look forward to a significantly higher number of validated reference architectures that pave the way for rapid and easy system integration.
