SGS and Baker Hughes, a GE company, have announced a strategic alliance to jointly deploy and market BHGE's Predictive Corrosion Management (PCM) real-time software and sensor-based solution. Leveraging the capabilities of the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT), PCM will enable asset owners to better monitor their facilities and detect and predict corrosion problems using real-time data that is powered by BHGE's ultrasonic sensing technology and advanced analytics. François Marti, Chief Operating Officer at SGS North America, and Holger Laubenthal, CEO, Inspection Technologies for BHGE, signed the partnership in the presence of customers and company representatives at a recent conference in Houston.
" This partnership with BHGE will enable SGS to expand its asset integrity management service offering with state-of-the-art digital inspection solutions that will greatly benefit our customers in the oil and gas sector. "said François Marti, Chief Operating Officer, SGS North America.
PCM generates measurements of wall thickness and other parameters from Rightrax PM ultrasonic sensors placed on critical equipment such as pipes, tanks and other industrial equipment. The solution puts advanced analytics into practice, enabling real-time evaluation of data that was previously collected during manual inspections, which could be both risky and time-consuming. While this solution is particularly useful for owners of oil, gas and petrochemical assets, PCM can help any industry facing corrosion-related risks. PCM is an essential tool to help asset owners benefit from improved reliability and integrity programs, while maximizing operational safety and extending asset life.
" PCM is one of our core offerings, helping customers make the invisible visible. said Holger Laubenthal, CEO, Inspection Technologies for BHGE. We are delighted to be working with SGS to accelerate the deployment of PCM, a predictive digital solution that is becoming a benchmark in corrosion monitoring across a range of industries. This agreement will play a key role in enhancing safety, reducing equipment downtime and improving operations for our customers worldwide. "
SGS provides inspection and non-destructive testing services for major industrial assets, both for equipment in service and during periodic technical shutdowns, helping to ensure the integrity of industrial sites worldwide. BHGE's Inspection Technologies division, part of its Digital Solutions business area, has been one of SGS's suppliers of non-destructive testing (NDT) technologies for many years, providing owners of industrial assets with essential technology solutions and services. SGS's extensive network and expertise in asset integrity, combined with BHGE's technological expertise, will ensure the rapid deployment of PCM and stimulate the market scaling of inspection and maintenance services and technologies.
