The company opens a new production site in Nesselwang, Germany
Endress-Hauser has invested more than 10.4 million euros in a new state-of-the-art production facility at its Nesselwang site in Germany. The 4,800-square-metre building includes new production and office space, as well as technical rooms and common rooms. With this expansion, the Endress-Hauser Group is investing more in sustainable growth.
The expansion was driven by the growing demand for temperature measurement and innovative system products, as well as the introduction of new product lines. "We are constantly investing in our centres of expertise to develop convincing solutions for our customers and increase production efficiency," said Matthias Altendorf, Managing Director of the Endress-Hauser Group, at the inauguration ceremony on October 26, 2018.
In many processes, temperature is a measurement parameter that has a major influence on the quality of the product. "We will continue to expand and complement our range of temperature and system products to be able to serve our customers optimally in the future. To do this, we need additional space for research and development, production, logistics and quality assurance, which this new building offers us," said Harald Hertweck, General Manager of the Endress-Hauser Expertise Centre for Temperature Measurement Technology.
Sustainability
The new building seduces with its impressive and intelligent architecture with a sloping façade, which offers protection from the sun and glass facades letting in plenty of light. The new building also features a sustainable energy concept, including a rooftop photovoltaic system that provides enough electricity to fully power the base production load. Electric bike charging stations further emphasize the importance of sustainability.
During the construction of the building, production and logistics processes were also optimized and structured in accordance with the "Lean" principles (management at its most accurate) and the "One Piece Flow" approach. This structure allows the competency centre to increase individual employee responsibility, increase the flexibility of the production process and make optimal use of machinery and operational resources.
Skill center for temperature measurement technology
Endress-Hauser Wetzer, the Group's centre of expertise for temperature measurement technology and system products, headquartered in Nesselwang, Germany, operates five additional production sites in Pessano (Italy), Greenwood, Indiana (USA), Suzhou (China), Aurangabad (India) and Benoni (South Africa).
This year, the company received several awards for the iTHERM TrustSens, the world's first self-calibration thermometer. In addition to the awards in France (Measures, CFIA) and the Czech Republic (Zlat-Amper), Endress-Hauser also received the renowned HERMES AWARD and the AMA Innovation Award at the SENSOR-TEST show in Nuremberg, Germany.
