The company inaugurates a new production site in Nesselwang, Germany
Endress+Hauser has invested over €10.4 million in a new state-of-the-art production facility at its Nesselwang site in Germany. The 4,800 square meter building includes new production and office space, as well as technical and common rooms. With this expansion, the Endress+Hauser Group is further investing in sustainable growth.
The expansion was driven by growing demand for temperature measurement and innovative system products, as well as the introduction of new product lines. "We are constantly investing in our competence centers in order to develop convincing solutions for our customers and increase production efficiency," said Matthias Altendorf, CEO of the Endress+Hauser Group, at the inauguration ceremony, held on October 26, 2018.
In many processes, temperature is a measuring parameter with a major influence on product quality. "We will continue to expand and complete our range of temperature and system products, so as to be able to serve our customers optimally in the future. To do this, we need additional space for research and development, production, logistics and quality assurance, which this new building offers us", said Harald Hertweck, Managing Director of the Endress+Hauser competence center for temperature measurement technology.
Sustainable development
The new building impresses with its impressive, intelligent architecture, featuring a sloping facade that offers protection from the sun, and glass facades that let in an abundance of light. The new building also features a sustainable energy concept, including a roof-mounted photovoltaic system that supplies enough electricity to fully power the base production load. Electric bicycle charging stations further underline the importance of sustainability.
During construction of the building, production and logistics processes were also optimized and structured in line with Lean principles and the One Piece Flow approach. This structure enables the Competence Center to increase the individual responsibility of employees, enhance the flexibility of the production process and make optimum use of machine capacity and operational resources.
Competence Center for Temperature Measurement Technology
Endress+Hauser Wetzer, the Group's competence center for temperature measurement technology and system products, headquartered in Nesselwang, Germany, operates five additional production sites in Pessano (Italy), Greenwood, Indiana (USA), Suzhou (China), Aurangabad (India) and Benoni (South Africa).
This year, the company won several awards for the iTHERM TrustSens, the world's first self-calibrating thermometer. In addition to prizes awarded in France (Mesures, CFIA) and the Czech Republic (Zlatý Amper), Endress+Hauser also received the HERMES AWARD, a renowned industry prize, and the AMA Innovation Award at the SENSOR+TEST trade fair in Nuremberg, Germany.
