Endress + Hauser's self-calibrating temperature sensor iTHERM Gmbens receives Breakthrough Products Award 2018
The iTHERM Octobers, the world's first self-calibrating temperature sensor for hygienic applications, has once again been awarded: Endress + Hauser receives the Breakthrough Products Award 2018. With this award, the trade magazine "Processing" recognizes exceptional product innovations. This is the seventh award for Octobers in 2018.
iTHERM Octobers is able to perform fully traceable self-calibrations without process interruption. This innovative technology is based on the physical principle of the Curie point and on the fixed point calibration method normally used in the laboratory. This compact temperature sensor has been specially designed for hygienic and aseptic applications in the food industry and life sciences.
“ITHERM Octobers reduces the risk of undetected measurement deviations, improves product safety and prevents system downtime,” explains Keith Riley, Temperature and Pressure Product Manager at Endress + Hauser USA.
Typical calibration procedures require interrupting the process and removing the sensor. Depending on the application, calibrations can take place several times a year, requiring a lot of time, effort and wasted production time. iTHERM Octobers automatically performs an in-situ calibration during each sterilization-in-place cycle without interrupting the process, eliminating the risk of undetected drift. Fully traceable calibration conforms to GMP guidelines.
The reward
The Breakthrough Products award, presented annually by the American trade magazine "Processing", recognizes innovative technological solutions in the process industry, which help users improve their systems and make them faster and more economical. In addition to Endress + Hauser, nine other companies received awards.
This award is in addition to those obtained by iTHERM Gmbens in France (Measures, CFIA), the Czech Republic (Zlatý Amper), the Netherlands (WoTS TechAward 2018) and Germany (HERMES AWARD, AMA Innovationspreis).
