iTHERM TrustSens, the self-calibrating temperature sensor from Endress+Hauser receives a Breakthrough Products Award 2018
The iTHERM TrustSens, the world's first self-calibrating temperature sensor for hygienic applications, has won yet another award: Endress+Hauser receives the Breakthrough Products Award 2018. With this award, the trade magazine "Processing" recognizes outstanding product innovations. This is the seventh award for TrustSens in 2018.
iTHERM TrustSens is capable of fully traceable self-calibration without process interruption. This innovative technology is based on the physical principle of Curie's point and the fixed-point calibration method normally used in laboratories. This compact temperature sensor has been specially designed for hygienic and aseptic applications in the food and life sciences industries.
"iTHERM TrustSens reduces the risk of undetected measurement deviations, improves product safety and avoids system downtime," explains Keith Riley, Temperature and Pressure Product Manager at Endress+Hauser USA.
Typical calibration procedures require process interruption and sensor removal. Depending on the application, calibrations can take place several times a year, requiring considerable time, effort and lost production time. iTHERM TrustSens automatically performs an in-situ calibration during each sterilization cycle in place, without interrupting the process, thus eliminating the risk of undetected drift. Fully traceable calibration complies with GMP guidelines.
The reward
The Breakthrough Products award, presented annually by the American trade magazine "Processing", recognizes innovative technological solutions in the process industry, helping users to improve their systems and make them faster and more economical. In addition to Endress+Hauser, nine other companies received awards.
This award joins those won by iTHERM TrustSens in France (Mesures, CFIA), the Czech Republic (Zlatý Amper), the Netherlands (WoTS TechAward 2018) and Germany (HERMES AWARD, AMA Innovationspreis).
