Buehler ITW Test - Measurement, one of the leading equipment, consumables and accessories for materials preparation and analysis, opens a European Solutions Centre in cooperation with the Warwick Manufacturing Group (WMG). The new infrastructure is part of the WMG Materials Engineering Centre, which is located on the campus of the University of Warwick in Great Britain. With more than 600 employees, this group maintains close relationships with a thousand companies around the world and supports some 1,800 SMEs through specific programmes. The new Solutions Centre's mission is to "energize academic and industrial research in areas such as additive manufacturing, energy storage, processing and processing of metal and composite materials, and assembly technologies."
The new laboratory has state-of-the-art systems for material analysis: several abrasive and precision chainsaws as well as polishers for sample preparation, as well as spectral analysis instruments for chemical characterization of materials. Other equipment includes Buehler's latest durometers designed for multiple areas of use with different levels of automation, not to mention Nikon microscopes, which complement Buehler imaging software for materialographic analysis.
"The new Solutions Centre allows us to provide an even more focused response to complex customer applications and technical demands related to materials analysis. It also provides an ideal infrastructure and framework for organising seminars and training on these topics. Everyone wins in this partnership, as it opens up both WMG materials specialists and Buehler's materials specialists and Buehler's great opportunities to exploit the latest technologies for the characterization of metal, polymer, ceramic and composite materials," explainsEvans Mogire, Technical Manager and European Laboratory at Buehler.
"This remarkably equipped materials analysis laboratory is a very valuable tool for the entire group. It gives us the opportunity to collaborate with one of the leaders in development and manufacturing in this field by constantly taking advantage of its state-of-the-art equipment, always perfectly maintained. For Buehler, it's an opportunity to work with the latest materials developed by us and to leverage these experiences to further perfect its product range,"adds Paul Johnson, Director of Technical Services at WMG.
