During the SFRP 2019 congress, HTDS will present the new radioisotope identification spectrometer of its nuclear / radiation protection division.

Designed by FLIR and released exclusively by HTDS, the Identifinder R440 spectrometer is a new, lightweight, portable radionuclide identification (RID) device without a radioactive source, can be operated with one hand and rated IP67 to withstand the most demanding missions.

The spectrometer is equipped with a new high sensitivity 2 × 2 NaI (sodium iodide) detector. The advantage of this detector is not only to be able to provide sensitive and rapid detection, but also to allow precise identification on any type of mission, whether it is a routine screening or an intervention of emergency.

According to HTDS, The 2 × 2 Nal detector enables the Identifinder R440 spectrometer to be able to react to radioactive threats much further away, behind larger obstacles and with better resolution than other spectrometers of similar size in existence today.

Finally, with an easy-to-read interface, and equipped with 360 ° EasyFinder mode, the new Identifinder R440 spectrometer quickly detects threats and accelerates decision-making to ensure the safety of workers and the environment.

A robust device

Compliant with ANSI N42.42 and ANSI N42.34 standards, and featuring a rugged IP67 protective housing, the identiFInder R440 spectrometer has been designed to withstand shocks and the most demanding environments.

Protected against dust ingress and immersion in water (splashing, accidental submersion, rain, etc.) up to 1 meter deep for a period of up to 30 minutes, the Identifinder R440 spectrometer is very resistant even in the event of a fall from a height of 1 meter on hard ground. Finally, its fully enclosed crystal gives it improved robustness.

Thanks to the on-board 2 × 2 NaI detector, the Identifinder R440 spectrometer would be 3.5 times more sensitive and have a resolution of 10% higher than that of other RIIDs of comparable size. According to HTDS, the high dose rate range provides stability and accuracy. Stabilization without a radioactive source improves data collection, thereby reducing false positives.

The Identifinder R440 spectrometer has been developed in two versions:
. a model for detection, measurement of gamma rays only (with indication of neutrons),
. a model for the combined detection, measurement and identification of gamma rays, including the neutron accountant.

Boasting high-performance features, the Identifinder R440 spectrometer provides clear results, improved communications, and ensures worker and environmental safety.

The Identifinder R440 spectrometer is equipped with a wireless communication system and is equipped with the EasyFinder 360 ° mode developed by FLIR. According to HTDS, the latter function provides a significant advantage as it allows data to be collected and interpreted and then to identify the exact location of the source by user.

Built for cross-organizational standardization, the Identifinder R440 spectrometer user interface is common to other Identifinder products, a feature that allows the Identifinder R440 spectrometer to be integrated into all applicable operational protocols, thereby reducing training load.

Compact, light and robust, this new detector will find applications in many situations and in all environments:
- Customs / Border security.
- Emergency situation / Civil protection.
- General radiation protection
- Environmental control
- etc.
