Thanks to steady growth over the past decade, which has continued to accelerate in 2018, the Wika Group posted 16% growth on sales last year, including 10% organic growth. The group can also be proud of having created more than 700 jobs worldwide. The three regions of the world (Europe, America and Asia) contributed equally to the success of the year. "An important part of our history that I could hardly imagine when I took on this responsibility about 22 years ago," says Alexander Wiegand, President of the Wika Group.
This figure allows the group to reach and sustain its new record but will be only a step on its long-term vision, as it aims for 2 billion euros by 2025. Wika, which was cautious for the current year, however, expects 1-digit growth despite the expected slowdown in sales in some countries and increased risks in the global economy.
France is taking an effective part in these results by posting an average annual growth of 10% over the last decade, which has increased its turnover from 14 to 27 million euros. "It's thanks to the trust of our customers, the support of our distributors and the commitment of our employees," said Claunel Massiès, Managing Director of Wika France.
The acquisition of production companies, which are experts respectively in high-precision calibration and level measurement, has of course contributed to this growth, although this is not the only reason. "Our growth is based on three areas," explains Pierre Forestier, Marketing Director. There is of course the development of our historical pressure and temperature product lines, but also the development of new markets or products and the development of the service business with the strong growth of our cofrac accredited pressure calibration laboratory located in Herblay (95)".
To support this growth already underway, the group decided to invest 50 million euros in the construction of a new development and innovation center for new products at the group's headquarters in Germany. 20,000 square metres will be devoted to offices, laboratories and production spaces. The new premises will be operational from 2021.
Moreover, the group has already invested in the acquisition of technology start-ups positioned in the IIoT. And communication instruments have been developed for large French industrial groups and are already in final testing.
