Quantum RX launches SciAps' new X-550 portable analyzer, designed to cover all application areas of the XRF in non-destructive control (NDT), matter control and alloy nuance identification (PMI). This X-ray fluorescence device is distinguished by the unique combination of three main advantages: its analytical performance (light elements and complex alloy shades), its speed of measurement (majority of alloys in 1 second or less) and its most compact format in its class allowing it access to narrow spaces.
The X-550 incorporates a range of 32 analytical elements and a library of more than 500 shades (as standard, with the possibility of extensions) to meet the needs of multiple applications.
High performance on lightweight elements and alloys
The X-550 has a powerful miniaturized X-ray tube. The results provided are accurate on alloys and lightweight elements to meet a wide variety of verification needs, including the most complicated ones (e.g., silicon measurement for sulfidic corrosion, low magnesium content in aluminum alloys).
Thanks to its pre-configured applications (alloys, aluminum, precious metals), the analyzer provides rapid measurements, for example, in less than seven seconds for measuring 0.1% of silicon in steel (sulfidic corrosion) and in two seconds for aluminums.
Other measurement options include sulfidic corrosion (API 939) and sulphuration (low si content) as well as analysis of residual elements (Cr, Cu, Ni, Mo, V, Ti), in accordance with API 751 and API 5L specifications.
Easy access to welds
According to Quantum RX, the X-550 is the most compact and lightweight portable analyzer in its class, with dimensions of only 18 x 25 x 10 cm for a weight of 1.27 kg (including Li-ion battery). This ergonomics allows the operator to analyze hard-to-reach parts and welds or in narrow spaces.
The device features a 50 kV and 5 Watts X-Ray Tube, a 20 mm2 silicon Drift Detector (SDD) and a 4-position filter door.
Finally, the X-550 features an Android-based software platform that facilitates data export, traceability and reporting; standard USB, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth interfaces and a 2.7-inch color screen that can be reversed day/night.
