Quantum RX launches the new X-550 portable analyzer from SciAps, designed to cover all XRF application fields in non-destructive testing (NDT), material testing and alloy grade identification (PMI). This XRF device boasts a unique combination of three main assets: its analytical performance (light elements and complex alloy grades), its measurement speed (most alloys in 1 second or less) and the most compact format in its class, enabling it to fit into tight spaces.
The X-550 integrates a range of 32 analytical elements and a library of over 500 shades (standard, with the possibility of extensions) to meet the needs of multiple applications.
High performance on light elements and alloys
The X-550 features a powerful miniaturized X-ray tube. Accurate results are provided on alloys and light elements to meet a wide variety of verification needs, including the most complicated (e.g.: silicon measurement for sulfidic corrosion, low magnesium content in aluminum alloys).
Thanks to its pre-configured applications (alloys, aluminum, precious metals), the analyzer delivers fast measurements, for example, in less than seven seconds for the measurement of 0.1% silicon in steel (sulfidic corrosion) and in two seconds for aluminum.
Other measurement options include sulfidic corrosion (API 939) and sulfidation (low Si content), as well as residual element analysis (Cr, Cu, Ni, Mo, V, Ti), in accordance with API 751 and API 5L specifications.
Easy access to welds
According to Quantum RX, the X-550 is the most compact and lightweight portable analyzer in its class, with dimensions of just 18 x 25 x 10 cm and a weight of 1.27 kg (including Li-ion battery). This ergonomic design enables the operator to analyze parts and welds that are difficult to access or in tight spaces.
The device is equipped with a 50 kV, 5-Watt X-ray tube, a new-generation 20 mm² SDD (Silicon Drift Detector) and a 4-position filter holder.
Finally, the X-550 features an Android-based software platform for easy data export, traceability and report generation; USB, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth interfaces as standard; and a 2.7" color display with day/night reversibility.
