Additional application diagnostics are now available on the Krohne H250 M40 variable area flowmeter for more reliable applications. This is in addition to the electronic device diagnostic. These new functions are performed by intelligent software algorithms which analyze the information signals of the magnetic field of the sensors.
The existing NE107 device diagnostics are thus extended to include application diagnostic functions specific to variable area flowmeters: the device is now able to detect float blockages caused by impurities in the product to be measured or by repeated and violent water hammers for example. It also detects pulsations in liquid measurements with positive displacement pumps, and oscillations due to compression in gas measurements. In addition, the system generates a message if the float is installed upside down in the measuring cone or if it is completely absent after maintenance or cleaning. The severity indication of the individual diagnostic functions can be configured according to the Namur NE107 categories: from “for information” to “maintenance required” or from “out of specification” to “failure”, with activation of the failure signal.
These new features not only improve application reliability, but also optimize the measurement accuracy and service life of Krohne variable area flowmeters by implementing appropriate corrective measures. Existing devices can be upgraded by replacing modules on site.
