Rohde & Schwarz puts its know-how at the service of MediaTek, the leading supplier of integrated circuits, to offer one of the first test solutions in production of Wi-Fi 6E devices. Rohde & Schwarz's new R&S CMP180 radiocommunication test platform has been integrated into MediaTek's automatic testing tool.
The R&S CMP180 radiocommunication test platform is designed to support multiple signals in parallel to test multiple devices or Mimo transmission systems. It can perform very high-speed measurements at frequencies up to 8 GHz. The tester, which combines an analyzer and a signal generator in a single package, offers all the measurement capabilities needed to test a variety of wireless communication standards, such as Wi-Fi 6E, Wi-Fi 7 and 5G NR at FR1 band frequencies, as well as a wide range of existing technologies.
Thanks to a close collaboration between the two companies and the work of their teams, the R&S CMP180 is qualified for performing Wi-Fi tests in production with MediaTek's tool (Meta & Multi ATE) for automatic testing in production. MediaTek customers using its latest mobile platforms implementing state-of-the-art wireless communication technologies can now seamlessly integrate the R&S CMP180 tester into their production lines.
Dr. Yenchi Lee, Deputy General Manager of MediaTek's Wireless Communications business, said: "Thanks to our constant and close collaboration with Rohde & Schwarz, MediaTek customers can now accelerate the process of developing and verifying their products by using the R&S CMP180 platform for testing our components."
Wi-Fi 6E devices can now take full advantage of the potential of this wireless communication technology exploiting the 6 GHz band and implementing 160 MHz channels on a very low-congested broadband. Their multi-gigabit transmission speed, as well as their low latency benefit many professional or educational applications, online gaming, video streaming, etc.
MediaTek announced in January 2021 that its Wi-Fi 6E platforms for access points and devices (client-side) had been selected by the Wi-Fi Alliance as part of its Wi-Fi 6E certification program. The company, which offers MT7915-AP-AX (access point) and MT7915-STA-AX (client-side) test solutions, continues to work closely with the Wi-Fi Alliance to ensure that the latest standards features are supported by its connectivity solutions.
Alexander Pabst, Vice President of the Wireless Communications Market Segment at Rohde & Schwarz, said: "We are delighted to be working with MediaTek, a leader in highly integrated circuits for Wi-Fi, to develop a solution dedicated to testing its products. Test engineers can rely on the outstanding RF parameters and high power output of the R&S CMP180 throughout the development phase of their products: from design validation testing to production. »
