"Nikon Metrology's new articulated arm is even more advanced and brings more accuracy, confidence and connectivity to the ModelMaker H120. This partnership perfectly reinforces the move to the handheld laser scanning solution as it brings the best in accuracy, detail and connectivity, making this tool the ideal measurement tool in the metrology lab, shop floor or in the field."says Nikon Metrology.
More than 25 years of evolution and development have enabled Nikon Metrology's portable scanning solutions to lead the way in solving the most demanding measurement tasks. The combination of the industry-renowned ModelMaker H120 laser scanner and the new MCAx S articulating arm allows users to gain better insights to improve quality, decrease time-to-market and streamline manufacturing processes. According to Nikon Metrology, the levels of detail and accuracy achieved are unprecedented for portable solutions on the shop floor, regardless of the user's experience.
The probing accuracy of the scanning system and arm is certified by the comprehensive ISO 10360-8 Annex D and ISO 10360-12 standards that meet the expectations of modern industry. The MCAx S arm enhances the user experience by enabling wireless scanning, providing high-speed Wi-Fi connection and powerful battery power without diminishing productivity.
The ModelMaker H120's is capable of measuring the most demanding materials providing high speed detail. " When combined with the MCAx S articulated arm, it not only strengthens Nikon Metrology's solution, but also its ability to study production quality for all industrial applications, Nikon Metrology emphasizes. These devices work in harmony with leading metrology software. This allows users to work safely on the platform of their choice, improving procedures through shorter measurement times and better understanding of quality-related issues."
Flexible and accurate metrology
The MCAx S range offers sizes from 2m to 4.5m and three performance levels so that the user can choose their optimal configuration. Tripods and magnetic bases are compatible, allowing the user to freely select the right setup for the task at hand. The infinite rotation and 7-axis freedom of movement allows for unrestricted movement in and around rooms. Thermal stability and advanced encoder technology eliminate the need for pre-heating, reducing set-up and inspection times. The MCAx S allows for multi-probing. In addition to the scanner, touch probes can be used in parallel to measure geometric features or hard-to-reach areas. Everyone can take advantage of advances such as the intelligent automatic preselection of the scanner or probe according to the type of measurement in order to use remote operation very easily.
Integration into the ModelMaker H120 enables Nikon's proprietary scanning technology, including the patented ESP4 auto-optimization feature, to be leveraged for every point measured, without speed reduction. The combination of a low speckle blue laser beam and a carefully designed custom integrated lens allows for the smallest structural resolutions and very low noise measurements during handheld scanning. This ensures high productivity and superior non-contact measurement of left and right surfaces without affecting small details, regardless of size or material.
According to Nikon Metrology, "This new solution meets the most demanding modern inspection challenges with its versatility, high-speed accurate scanning performance and the confidence of ISO certification. It allows users to gain a better understanding of the smallest details of their parts in the shortest possible time."
