Presented for the first time in Europe at the Control show in Stuttgart in the spring, and then exhibited at the EMO show in Hamburg on September 16, Rondcom Crest offers, according to its manufacturer Accretech, the highest measurement accuracy ever achieved in its field.
This measuring device for revolution parts, capable of telling whether the shape of a part resembles a perfect circle, is mainly used in bearing, piston and cylinder block manufacturing sites. The growing concern for reliability and quality in the automotive and aerospace industries is creating a new demand for the Rondcom Crest's performance, which can play a crucial role in guaranteeing the quality of high-precision parts. This new machine is also designed for calibration laboratories and high-precision manufacturing environments.
Iterative development

Positioning accuracy being the priority, the designers introduced several patent-pending developments, such as non-contact mechanisms with no noise or vibration, enabling them to achieve ten times the accuracy of the well-known 65B model, considered to date to be the leader in its field. Until the desired precision was achieved, the development team collected data, identified possible causes and took action for each cause... and repeated the process.
Accretech has also focused on the appearance of its machine, in order to meet the "aesthetic requirements" of the European market. The special attention paid to the design and ergonomics of the Rondcom Crest, such as the integration of a large protective glass pane, has made it possible to control dimensional variations due to temperature changes, and thus eliminate this impact on measurements.
The Rondcom Crest can even be fitted with its own air-conditioning system, should the installation environment be unable to guarantee a temperature and airflow suitable for such high measurements.
Accretech's Rondcom range offers intelligent technologies developed to solve complex measurement tasks. It enables the measurement of form deviations by rotating the part to an accuracy of 0.01 μm or less, and is particularly well suited to the inspection of rotationally symmetrical parts. It can also be used to measure heavy, non-rotationally symmetrical parts such as cylinder blocks, crankshafts or crankcases.
