Teledyne Flir, part of Teledyne Technologies Incorporated, has introduced the Flir One Edge, the dual wireless thermal-visible camera system for mobile devices. Flir One Edge is specially designed for sanitation, HVAC, plumbing, automotive diagnostics and electrical applications. Like the Flir One Edge Pro, the new model clips onto a cell phone or tablet (detachable format) and offers Bluetooth and wireless connectivity, plus features tailored to the needs of consumers and small businesses. It is available in high-volume corporate packs.

The Flir One Edge connects to a smart device via the Flir One app available on Google Play and Apple's App Store, enabling users to identify hot or cold thermal spots that could indicate faults and problems in design. Similar to the Flir One Edge Pro, Flir One Edge offers superior contextual insight and clarity for everyday decision support, thanks to Multispectral Dynamic Imaging (MSX), a patented image enhancement feature that overlays visible edge detail on the thermal image without sacrificing thermal detail.
Simplified report creation and customization
To support both novice and experienced thermographers, the Flir One Edge is compatible with a rich set of Teledyne Flir software tools. Connectivity to the Flir Ignite cloud enables easy sharing, backup, web editing and reporting with 1GB of free storage or annual subscriptions from 10GB of storage starting at USD 30 per year. In October, Teledyne FLIR will add guided inspection apps for iOS and Android users that will enable thermographers of all experience levels to easily find hidden problems in their respective homes, vehicles, etc. The aim of these apps is to simplify camera use by providing step-by-step instructions for inspections and advice on how to interpret the images obtained.
The Flir One Edge is also compatible with third-party applications developed via the Flir mobile SDK available on Google Play and Apple's App Store, including those supporting construction, shipping, home insulation, dental care, metalworking and more.
Individuals and large organizations can create customized proprietary applications to take full advantage of the benefits of thermography scaling within existing systems, or to simplify and improve workflows.
Robust functionality at an affordable price
The Flir One Edge's scalable hardware design eliminates the need to plug cables and connectors into the device, offering a thermal camera compatible with all operating systems, including iPhone 15. MSX enhances the Lepton radiometric thermal camera with 80 × 60 resolution, combined with a visible camera with 640 × 480 resolution, creating a crisp, easily interpretable image. It is also inherently more robust and versatile, with IP54 protection and a drop resistance rating of up to 2 m. The ergonomic format allows users to hold it easily in one hand, attach it to a companion mobile device or place it on a ledge for hands-free remote monitoring.
