At the International Trade Fair for Optical Technologies, Components and Systems, to be held November 17-19 in Frankfurt am Main, Aerotech will be presenting its motion control and automation solutions for the optics and photonics industries. High-precision solutions for optical fiber alignment will also be on the agenda.
"For us, the Optatec show is a showcase for our industry; we appreciate the opportunity to highlight to a specialist audience our solutions for industrial applications and manufacturing systems in the fields of optoelectronics, fiber optics, optical fibers and laser components, says Simon Smith, Aerotech's European Director. The event's program, with conferences led by prestigious specialists, provides a platform for knowledge; the Spectaris workshop and technology park will also be an added bonus. For the first time, we'll be presenting our "little" hexapod on our stand, the Hex150."
Founded in 1970, Aerotech is a world-renowned specialist in motion control and automation. Based on a standard range of high-precision mechanical positioning and control systems, and able to offer customer-specific automation systems, Aerotech's solutions are used in manufacturing, testing and inspection processes in the micrometer and nanometer range, both for many of the world's best-known technology companies and for research centers. The company offers servo and piezo/nano positioning systems, their control systems and a platform of pre-programmed algorithms for sub-micrometer-scale alignment of optical fibers and components.
Perfect positioning for fiber optic applications
"With the increase in fiber optic applications, automatic setting and control devices are of paramount importance. Automated technologies can significantly improve the precision of optical modules, while reducing production costs once quantities increase. The choice and implementation of a suitable positioning system, for the automatic alignment process for example, can be decisive. Even complex fiber-optic processes can only be automated with precise positioning and motion control. Motion control technology must be able to offer setting tolerances with sub-micron resolution. The choice of motion kinematics plays an important role in presetting components and optimizing optical cable alignment. The use of precision positioning systems guarantees optimization of optical power, even in difficult boundary conditions.says Aerotech.
"Not everyone knows that at Aerotech, we've been supporting the telecoms industry and computer centers for decades, helping them to make optimum use of optical fibers and cables for data transfer, underlines Simon Smith. Our range includes products and solutions for the exact positioning of optical components and software algorithms to minimize coupling losses".
In addition to motion and positioning control systems, Aerotech also develops the corresponding software. These are used in all areas requiring high performance and absolute precision, such as laser machining. High-precision control of motion components has been one of Aerotech's core competencies for decades. Aerotech's solutions and systems are used in all fields where micrometric and nanometric positioning is required: in industry, in research institutes or in measurement technology.
Following on from the AS3200, Automation1 marks the entry into the new generation of controls. The use of a control platform reduces production costs and enables customers to be supplied more quickly.
"With the "Automation1 precision machine and motion control platform", Aerotech is revolutionizing the field of precision motion and machine controls. It functions as a complete machine controller with all components, and thus offers much more than just a "motion controller"".says Aerotech. Equipped with a new software-based motion controller, it enables direct control of servo and stepper motors, galvanic scanner heads, piezo actuators and various other devices. The individual power modules are connected via the HyperWire bus, the most powerful communication bus in motion control.
According to Aerotech, the new Automation1 platform supports today's emerging markets for precision machinery and motion control, and is particularly suited to automation systems, precision laser processes, test and inspection operations and other applications where process control is closely linked to motion control. As a result, the new control and drive solution further optimizes potential to accelerate motion and stabilization times, improve positioning stability and enhance precision. "This makes it the first development environment that, in place of product design, emphasizes both a sustainable user experience through the use of cutting-edge technologies and the acceleration of movement sequences."Aerortech emphasizes.
