Cognex Corporation introduces the In-Sight® 3D-L4000 embedded vision system. Equipped with 3D laser movement technology, this smart camera, the first of its kind according to the manufacturer, allows engineers to quickly, accurately and cheaply solve a series of inspections on automated production lines.

"Until now, 3D has been too expensive and complicated to solve inspection applications for most customers," says John Keating, director of the 3D business unit. The In-Sight 3D-L4000 breaks down previous barriers by providing a massive suite of true 3D vision tools and making them as easy to use as industry-leading 2D vision tools."

The 3D-L4000 combines patented blue laser optics to limit glare, and the widest range of 3D vision tools with the flexibility of the In-Sight spreadsheavory. This all-in-one solution allows you to quickly capture and process spectacularly high-quality 3D images during online inspection, guidance and gauging applications. By allowing users to place vision tools directly on an actual 3D image of the room, the 3D-L4000 offers greater accuracy than traditional systems, expanding the types of inspections that can be performed. In addition, because the inspections are in 3D, users can immediately see how the vision tools work on the actual room.

The 3D-L4000 includes all the traditional 3D measurement tools that users expect, such as looking for plans and heights. It also features a comprehensive set of 3D vision tools, designed from the start to take advantage of inspections in a real 3D space.

The intuitive interface of the In-Sight spreadsheet makes it easy and easy to set up and run 3D applications without the need for programming or external processing. It simplifies application development and streamlines factory integration with a comprehensive set of I/S and communications functions. It also combines 2D and 3D vision tools in the same application, speeding up deployments.

The In-Sight 3D-L4000 comes in the form of three factory-calibrated fields of vision and is ideal for applications in a variety of sectors, including food and beverages, consumer products, packaging, automotive, medical devices and electronics.
